Director, CEO Office

Bridgewater, New Jersey, United States

Legend Biotech is a global biotechnology company dedicated to treating and, one day, curing life-threatening diseases. Headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey, we are advancing the next generation of cell therapy through a portfolio of innovative technologies, including autologous, allogeneic, and in vivo cell therapy approaches. Our research spans chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T), T-cell receptor (TCR-T), natural killer (NK) cell-based therapies, and other emerging platforms designed to transform the treatment of serious diseases. From our global network of research and development sites, we are committed to discovering and developing safe, effective, and cutting-edge therapies for patients worldwide.

Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Johnson & Johnson to jointly develop and commercialize CARVYKTI® (ciltacabtagene autoleucel; cilta-cel). Through this strategic partnership, we combine complementary expertise and capabilities to advance innovative immunotherapies for patients living with multiple myeloma.

Legend Biotech is seeking a Director, CEO Office as part of the Executive Office team based in Bridgewater, NJ.

Role Overview

The Director, CEO Office is a strategic partner to the CEO and a force multiplier for the CEO's leadership team (LT). You will shape and drive the company's strategic agenda, help the LT operate as a high-performing team, and turn priorities into decisions, plans and results. You will work side by side with the CEO every day, see the business end to end, from R&D to CARVYKTI commercial performance and corporate functions, and take on work that matters.

The CEO's LT includes the Head of CARVYKTI, CFO, CHRO, Head of R&D, Head of Strategy & PMO, and the heads of Legal, IT, Compliance and Business Development.

This is a defined development role. After about three years, the expectation is a move into a commercial leadership position in sales, marketing or a related function.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead the development and refresh of the corporate strategy, long-range plan and annual priorities, working with the CFO and the heads of R&D and CARVYKTI.
  • Frame and solve the CEO's most important business questions, such as CARVYKTI growth and pipeline and portfolio prioritization.
  • Engage credibly with R&D on the science, clinical data and development plans behind pipeline decisions.
  • Translate strategy into clear objectives and KPIs, partnering with Strategy & PMO on execution tracking and operating systems.

Leadership Team Effectiveness

  • Own the LT operating rhythm: agendas, pre-reads, decision logs, follow-ups and accountability.
  • Raise the LT's strategic focus by making sure its time goes to the few decisions that matter most.
  • Design and run LT offsites, business reviews and high-performing-team (HPT) initiatives.

CEO and Board Documents

  • Prepare the CEO's board, LT and strategic decision materials.
  • Synthesize complex data into crisp storylines and recommendations, in English and Chinese.
  • Provide strategic content to the Communications team for external and internal messages; Communications owns those channels.

Cross-functional Execution

  • Lead or drive the CEO's high-priority special projects across CARVYKTI, R&D, finance and corporate functions.
  • Act as the CEO's proxy where appropriate: represent priorities, broker alignment and resolve issues across functions and regions.
  • Serve as a bridge between global and China teams and stakeholders.

AI-enabled Ways of Working

  • Use AI tools daily to speed up research, analysis, synthesis and document production.
  • Identify and pilot practical AI use cases for the CEO's office and the LT, and help spread good practice across the organization.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain or similar), reaching Engagement Manager or Senior Engagement Manager level.
  • Consulting work focused on healthcare, pharma or biotech.
  • 1–2 years of industry experience in pharma or biotech (e.g. strategy, commercial or medical).
  • Fluent professional English and Mandarin Chinese, written and spoken.
  • Excellent problem-structuring, analytical and executive communication skills, with a track record of senior-level documents.
  • A solid science background: degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy or bioengineering, and the ability to understand clinical and scientific data.
  • Hands-on user of AI tools for analysis and content creation.
  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD or MS) in a life science field, and/or an MBA.
  • Exposure to oncology, hematology or cell therapy.
  • Commercial project experience: launch planning, brand strategy, forecasting, market access or sales force effectiveness.
  • Experience working across the US, China and other global markets.
  • Experience supporting a CEO or executive team on strategy, planning or transformation.

Who you are

  • Sharp and fast. You get to the core of a problem quickly and learn new areas at speed.
  • Driven to deliver. You are motivated, work hard and own outcomes, not just outputs.
  • You move easily between strategy and detail, and between long-term work and today's urgent request.
  • You earn trust across levels and functions and lead through influence.
  • You handle confidential information with sound judgment.
  • Commercially ambitious. You want to lead commercial teams and see this role as the foundation for that career.

Career Path

  • Year 1: Learn the business. Own the LT cadence and strategy process; build relationships across functions.
  • Years 2–3: Lead the agenda. Lead major strategic initiatives and act as the CEO's trusted proxy.
  • After ~3 years: Move into commercial. Transition into a sales, marketing or other commercial leadership role.

Working Model

On site 3–4 days per week in Bridgewater, NJ, working closely with the CEO and the LT. Some travel for business reviews, offsites and global meetings.
