Global Sourcing Director Cel Therapy

We’re looking for a Director of Global Sourcing who’s passionate about building strategic supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and enabling the delivery of life-changing therapies. Global Sourcing Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and implement a global sourcing organization for direct materials supporting a commercialized CAR-T product.
  • Develop and execute a long-term sourcing strategy aligned with manufacturing and business goals.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global sourcing team with 2–3 direct reports.
  • Establish sourcing scoreboards, KPIs, and metrics to drive visibility and performance.
  • Enhance risk assessment processes and maintain updated risk scores for BOM and high-risk materials.
  • Own make vs. buy decisions and lead supplier selection, RFI/RFP processes, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Legal, CMC, MSAT, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Regulatory to prepare second-source strategies and ensure supply continuity.
  • Deliver on cost savings goals and support product competitiveness.
  • Support CMO contract negotiations in partnership with Alliance Management.
  • Ensure target inventory levels are met and published monthly.
  • Drive supplier performance through OTIF metrics, cost reduction initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
  • Refine and develop corporate policies and SOPs for global sourcing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Operational Enablement

  • Partner with Integrated Business Planning to report material exceptions and align sourcing with demand.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders across US and EU, including TechOps and Quality.
  • Provide project management, purchasing, and invoice support for technical teams.
  • Ensure sourcing processes are scalable and adaptable in a fast-moving organization.
  • Support regulatory readiness and compliance in collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.

Who are we looking for?

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Engineering, or related biological sciences preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years in direct material sourcing, procurement, and contracting.
  • Proven track record of driving cost savings and sourcing solutions.
  • Experience negotiating complex supply agreements and CMO contracts.
  • Strong understanding of the cell therapy supplier landscape and industry dynamics.

Languages: Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Strengths:

  • Strategic thinker with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Skilled in data analytics, risk management, and ERP systems (S/4 HANA preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of cGMP guidelines and experience working with manufacturing and supply chain teams.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, PowerBI, and project tools like SmartSheet.

Expertise:

  • Sourcing processes and implementation in dynamic environments.
  • Working with cell and gene therapy materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Supplier performance management and cost reduction strategies.
  • Intercultural communication and global supplier engagement.
  • Regulatory compliance and audit readiness in sourcing operations.
