Office Engineer I

Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding Office Engineer I located in Los Angeles to work with our client, Los Angeles World Airports who has experience in a Technical/Construction background with experience in an operating/active environment. Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies, Knowledge and experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins, and Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout are key qualifiers. The Office Engineer I will participate as integral member of the LAX Terminal 2 project team, assisting the Project Manager with managing the scope, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities for TDIP’s Terminal 2 project.

 

This is a full-time position with on-site work required Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. Salary offered ranges from $85,000-$90,000 depending on experience. 

The Office Engineer I will maintain organized and detailed construction files, project records and logs. Oversee and  review daily field inspector reports. Track, document and manage project issues and conditions, including the management of the construction Request For Information (RFI) and submittal process. Provide and coordinate technical and administrative information to others working on a project to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.

 

Daily Duties 

 

 

  • Assist the T2 project team in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of submittals. Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into PM Web, and prepare management information status report, as required.
  • Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in PM Web, the project information system.
  • Maintain project files and document / submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies). Work with the Contractor(s) to ensure the drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner.  Distribute documents, submittals and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval and issue responses to Contractor(s).
  • Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.
  • Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned to support the project such as: attend and document project meetings (write agendas and minutes), perform expediting functions, and prepare and maintain an expediting log; etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years or more experience, preferably on airport projects or environments
  • Experience supporting Multiple Award Task Order Contracts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Demonstrated experience with complex estimating reconciliations and change order negotiations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Experience with Project Management Implementation Systems; ability to work in PM Web preferred

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, airport administration, or other related field
