Staff Infrastructure Engineer

This position is based in Charlotte, N.C. OR Seattle, W.A., with a hybrid work schedule of three days per week in office (Tues, Wed, Thurs). Candidates must be located in the Charlotte or Seattle areas (or willing to relocate) to be considered for this position.

We’re seeking a highly skilled Staff Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our infrastructure systems. You will be the go-to expert for all infrastructure-related tasks and projects, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our Windows and Linux servers, cloud environments, and enterprise systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud networking, performance optimization, and systems design, as well as a strong background in SRE/DevOps principles, observability, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing (Job Duties)

  • Infrastructure Automation: Lead the development of Configuration Management processes using tools like Chef, Puppet, and Ansible. Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment with Terraform.
  • Systems Management: Manage Windows Servers and Linux systems, including Active Directory, Exchange, DHCP, DNS, and Endpoint Management. Assist in maintaining SQL Server clusters for high availability.
  • Security & Compliance: Collaborate with InfoSec to harden systems and ensure compliance with SOX and PCI requirements.
  • SRE & DevOps: Leverage Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, build CI/CD pipelines, and implement observability solutions using tools like NewRelic or SumoLogic.
  • Scripting & Automation: Develop scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to automate workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor team members, share knowledge, and drive best practices for infrastructure automation

What We Look for In You (Job Requirements)

  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with expertise in Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange, DHCP, DNS, and Endpoint Management.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, IIS, SQL Server databases, clusters, and high-availability systems.
  • Strong background in SRE/DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, TDD, and observability tools (NewRelic, SumoLogic, OpenTelemetry).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with SOX and PCI compliance requirements and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Nice to Have (Preferences)

  • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with endpoint management tools like Intune, Kandji, Azure ARC.
  • Experience with identity and access management (IAM) solutions like SailPoint, Okta or Azure AD.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools like Nessus, Qualys, or Tenable.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies like edge computing, AI/ML infrastructure, or IoT platforms.

The pay range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Incentive Compensation: Variable compensation, annual bonus
