Licensing Analyst

PLEASE NOTE: This position is located in our Charlotte, NC office. We offer a hybrid work schedule (three days in the office and two days of teleworking) to accommodate for flexibility.  

THE POSITION 

The purpose of this position is to: 

  • Prepare, coordinate, and maintain various state and local licensing applications, selected corporate filings, and renewals for both lending and insurance related business activities. 
  • Assist legal and compliance teams with other initiatives. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Prepare and file licensing applications, including all loan officer license reports and renewals in all currently licensed states, as well as new licensing as state laws change via the NMLS online system. 
  • Maintain licensing of entities and loan officers in states requiring separate licensure/registration and corporate licensure via the NMLS online system. 
  • Maintain active insurance licenses for applicable states through the NIPR or state insurance department websites 
  • Coordinate with accounting for filing year-end financial statements and reports with state regulators. 
  • Responsible for regulatory communications relating to licensing. 
  • Act as knowledge base for business units regarding licensing requirements in performance of their duties. 
  • Oversee communications with states concerning licensing applications and/or renewals. 
  • Handle escalated licensing matters with state regulators. 
  • Review proposed and recently enacted legislation and regulatory guidance from applicable regulators. 
  • Support and work with attorneys to address legal issues concerning licensing initiatives. 
  • Provide reporting, file maintenance, and scanning as required. 
  • Perform other duties as determined by manager. 
  • Assist with largescale ad hoc projects as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 2+ years of experience in licensing (lending or insurance). 
  • 2+ years of experience with Secretary of State databases. 
  • 2+ years working in NMLS. 
  • 1+ years working in NIPR and/or with state insurance department websites.  
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. 
  • Previous paralegal or compliance experience a plus. 
  • Experience in FinTech a plus.
