The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development and implementation of high-quality software solutions for both the client and server sides that powers our business. You’ll work on new and existing projects and have opportunities to grow and be challenged within the company.  You'll excel at analyzing complex issues and finding simple and effective solutions. You'll also be able to navigate our existing codebase and make changes as needed while minimizing risk and advancing our engineering stack.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop complex algorithms to solve business needs (e.g. how to identify the best opportunities for customers to save money on existing loans.)
  • Work hand-in-hand with the business to find the best ways to solve problems (one day you could be improving the robustness of backend integrations, the next you might be developing functionality that provides complex analytics for the business.)
  • Leverage the latest technologies to build enterprise-wide, scalable systems
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the industry to incorporate them into operations and activities.

This is a collaborative environment where engineers are expected to understand the business context behind the work, share ideas openly, participate in code review and technical discussions, and help one another solve problems and deliver high-quality software.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting web applications, including:
  • 2+ years of that experience hands-on coding in C#
  • 2+ years of that experience in RESTful API development
  • 2+ years of that experience in frontend development (web, mobile, etc.) with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks such as Vue, React or Angular or demonstrated ability to learn new frameworks quickly.
  • Computer Science or closely related degree
  • Passion for professional self-improvement (anxious to explore new territory)
  • An expert in the programming language(s) of your choice

  • Experience building and integrating with service-oriented and event-driven systems, including APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including maintainable design, SOLID principles, design patterns, code review, and unit testing

What Will Help You Thrive

  • You are curious and willing to learn new languages, frameworks, technologies, and business domains rather than being tied to one specific stack.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment that will require context switching
  • Available for on-call duties to support the application outside normal business hours when necessary
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies and to adapt to changing business demands
  • Excellent time management and project management skills

What Success Looks Like

  • You build a strong understanding of the company applications, integrations, and business processes you support and become a dependable contributor to the team.
  • You become productive in the team's technology stack, applying your existing engineering fundamentals while learning unfamiliar tools or frameworks as needed.
  • New features and enhancements are delivered against clear and unclear requirements and acceptance criteria with maintainability, reliability, and testability in mind.
  • Existing applications are supported and improved through thoughtful fixes, upgrades, and engineering improvements.
  • Business partners and teammates can rely on you to communicate clearly, ask the right questions, and collaborate effectively on shared work.
  • You raise the quality of the engineering environment through strong technical judgment, constructive code review, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
