The Opportunity:
As a subject matter expert for LG Electronics controls, the Field Controls Specialist is expected to provide escalated technical support in the field, on the phone and via online mediums to internal and external customers. As the Field Controls Specialist, you will support the installation, startup, and troubleshooting of LG controls products through the Applied and Distribution channels for both warranty and post warranty issue resolution. and troubleshooting for LG's BAS controls business initiatives.
- Provide advanced technical support for the installation, startup, and troubleshooting of LG V-Net controls suite, encompassing wired and wireless individual zone controls, central controls, open protocol gateways, custom programmable controllers, adapters, and accessories.
- Support will be provided both on-site at job locations, remotely via phone, and through online mediums.
- Develop and maintain critical post-sales documentation within Salesforce case files to ensure compliance with warranty and post-warranty internal processes, capture insights for future product development based on employee and customer feedback and facilitate resolution of field issues.
- Offer consultation on controls training programs and deliver training sessions for controls installation, startup, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with Technical Support, Escalation Lead, Engineering, and Field Technical team members to provide guidance and resolve escalated technical field issues.
- Coordinate and facilitate supervised technical assistance for HVAC Contractors, Distributors, Manufacturers, and Applied Reps for unresolved technical issues.
- Engage directly with HVAC Contractors, Distributors, Manufacturers, and Applied Reps to coordinate jobsite visits.
- Instruct HVAC Contractors, Distributors, Manufacturers, and Applied Reps on the proper utilization of LG proprietary software for equipment selection, application, and troubleshooting purposes.
- Establish and nurture technical relationships with regional sales staff within respective coverage regions.
- Conduct critical software and hardware service updates for equipment in inventory or deployed in the field as needed.
- Research and provide accurate technical information for the development of technical training materials.
- Plan and deliver technical training sessions in both classroom and jobsite environments.
Qualifications:
Required:
- HVAC Vocational Diploma or higher preferred, with at least 5 years of experience in HVAC or technical support, and 7 years in HVAC Controls.
- Willingness to travel up to 75%.
- Proficiency in LG product line, VRF controls, and/or Building Automation System.
- Experience troubleshooting service issues onsite and via phone.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and network communication protocols like BACnet, LON, MODBUS.
- Niagara Technical Certification preferred.
- Familiarity with VRF and/or Ductless mini-split HVAC systems.
- Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
- Comfortable working independently or within a team, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Capable of physical tasks like climbing ladders and lifting equipment up to 30 pounds.
- Flexibility for occasional business travel and extended work hours as needed.
