The Opportunity
As the Staff Regulatory Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for keeping abreast of new and changing building codes and how they impact the installation and commissioning of LG Airconditioning Technologies products.
Key Responsibilities
Building Codes & Standards
- Analyze and interpret key building code standards to support product application and compliance
- Identify and communicate code requirements that influence product design, features, and development opportunities
- Monitor industry code trends, regulatory changes, and enforcement posture across federal, state, and local jurisdictions; maintain a living database of jurisdictional adoption calendars and variance maps.
- Serve as the primary interface with code-committee activities (ASHRAE, IEC) and industry trade associations (AHRI, AMCA, NFPA, etc.), translating committee deliberations into internal roadmaps and stakeholder presentations.
- Collaborate with Product Support Engineering to strengthen technical expertise and code application knowledge
- Lead the development of external-facing application materials — technical white papers, peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentations, and webinar content — that position our products as code-compliant and code-forward.
- Manage end-to-end compliance dossiers for new and existing SKUs, coordinating with testing labs (UL, Intertek, CSA, AHRI-accredited facilities) to certify against applicable energy and safety standards.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HVAC regulatory compliance experience, with demonstrated success in at least one high-volume HVAC category (residential light commercial, commercial refrigeration, or process HVAC).
- Deep working knowledge of IECC, ASHRAE, NEC, and NFPA— able to navigate state and local amendments without always defaulting to a compliance consultant.
- Hands-on experience managing testing and certification programs (UL, CSA, AHRI, ETL) — you know what lab scope, test criteria, and report formats mean for a product’s market readiness.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards
- Ability to write technical documentation that your peers and field sales teams actually read and trust: clear, authoritative, code-cited.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to translate technical requirements into practical business solutions
- Bilingual Korean and English preferred
