Title : Sr. Specialist, Safety & Health

Summary:

Focus on improving EH&S at the Arizona site by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong EH&S culture. Evaluates workplace compliance with regard to local, state and federal regulations.  Functions as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company EH&S standards and programs. Performs jobsite auditing and conducts incident investigation.  Conducts inspections and ensures compliance with applicable EH&S regulations and standards.  

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Production Technology Engineering team and vendors in performing reviews of equipment installation, commissioning and work process reviews
  • Oversee plant construction safety programs and collaborate with plant Facilities Engineering and vendors or contractors on fire prevention systems and other hazard abatement measures
  • Provide guidance on regulatory requirements and audit activities for compliance
  • Oversee plant(s)-wide safety, health and fire prevention programs as a member of Disaster Prevention Center
  • Manage the ISO 45001 certification process and lead the Safety & Health Compliance Team to drive continuous improvement in all Safety & Health and fire prevention programs (PSM, DHA, OHSA, NFPA, IFC Program)
  • Conduct cadenced audit activity to ensure EH&S practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any EH&S related policies/regulations
  • Escalate safety issues/concerns to leadership management
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvements across the organization
  • Participate in incident investigations and track corrective action
  • Participate in emergency/fire response drills and critiques
  • Conduct new hire orientation, contractor safety and other EH&S related training topics, as required
  • Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Communicate with LGES EH&S colleagues around the globe
  • Respond in the event of accidents, lead and collaborate in problem-solving, containment and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 7 years in experience evaluating and improving EH&S programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering ore related field required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
  • Knowledge of NFPA and IFC standards and building/fire code requirements
  • Willingness to cross-train in other functions within the EH&S team
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred
  • Experience managing ISO 45001 certification
  • Ability to work flexible hours occasionally

Skills:

  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of and experience working with Fire Prevention, OSHA, EPA and state/local regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical
  • Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and computer skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Korean-English bilingual preferred
