Title : Specialist II, Safety & Health
Reports to : EH&S Manager
Location : Queen Creek, AZ
Summary :
Focus on improving EH&S at the Arizona site by using his/her knowledge to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong EH&S culture. Evaluates workplace compliance with regard to local, state and federal regulations. Provide expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company EH&S standards and programs. Performs jobsite auditing and conducts incident investigation. Conducts inspections and ensures compliance with applicable EH&S regulations and standards.
Responsibilities :
- Drive the ISO 45001 certification process, ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, and drive continuous improvement of all safety and health programs (PSM, DHA, OHSA programs)
- Ensure hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices
- Conduct daily line walks to ensure EH&S practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any EH&S related policies/regulations
- Conduct and record spot checks to communicate safety issues/concerns to department management.
- Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions
- Assist with new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments
- Follow-up on emergency response drills and planning and critiques
- Assist with site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
- Implement the facility fire brigade training and education program in accordance with OSHA and NFPA
- Coordinate fire brigade training and retain required training records
- Document and conduct drill scenarios for facility fire brigade personnel
- Assist with the development of site emergency response plans and procedures
- Coordinate and deliver annual site-wide fire extinguisher training
- Facilitate and coordinate building fire/evacuation drills
- Facilitate and maintain positive relationships with outside responding agencies (fire, police, EMS, hazmat), and insurance and code officials
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements :
- Minimum of 3 years in experience evaluating and improving EH&S programs in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering ore related field required
- Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
- Knowledge of NFPA and IFC standards and building/fire code requirements
- Willingness to cross-train in other functions within the EH&S team
- Experience managing ISO 45001 certification
Skills :
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA, EPA and state/local regulations and requirements
- Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical
- Must be comfortable working in a team setting
- Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports
- Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals
- Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours occasionally
- Korean-English bilingual * Preferred but not required
