Summary:  

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Supplier Quality Assurance Supervisor. This position is responsible for analyzing components to ensure they meet established quality standards, including reliability, usability, and performance. The role involves verifying that quality standards align with organizational requirements. Effective communication across all levels of the organization is essential to identify, discuss, and resolve quality issues in a timely and efficient manner.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach, mentor and support a team of associates to safely accomplish inspection activities, production and quality objectives on a shift, while ensuring highest quality team member experience and satisfaction.
  • Promote area standards and reinforce expectations for safety, housekeeping, punctuality, attendance, work performance, conducting performance reviews, and administering disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Administer timekeeping and payroll responsibilities with zero-defect mindset.
  • Lead and coordinate the activities of the Incoming and Supplier Quality team to ensure consistent quality standards across operations.
  • Conduct regular audits and evaluations of inspectors’ performance and provide targeted training to continuously improve inspection accuracy and effectiveness. Interface with area leadership, production, engineering and supplier representatives using analysis of audit data, escalating key findings and prioritizing work based on production schedule and organization goals.
  • Lead analysis of returned samples, identifying the root cause of quality issues related to components or processes, and report findings to Quality Assurance (QA) leadership.
  • Spearhead process investigations aimed at improving process stability and capabilities, identifying and addressing root causes of deviations.
  • Maintain close communication with cross-functional teams, including Production and Purchasing, to address quality issues and drive continuous improvements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of lab and testing equipment, including coordinating training on proper methods, with particular attention to Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Maintain regular communication with relevant teams to share and implement corrective actions derived from engineering findings.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and root cause analysis of raw materials and products to identify non-conformance issues, documenting and following up on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure proper documentation of records, logs, and paperwork, maintaining full compliance with quality documentation requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness at the worksite in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
    - 5S: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    - 3R: Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Conduct thorough and timely Layered Process Audits in appropriate work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading and managing team members
  • Six Sigma training or certification, desired
  • High School Diploma/General Educational Development or higher degree required
  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a period of up to 12 hours
    • Safety glasses
    • Steel-toed shoes
  • Must be able to do perform the following over the course of up to 12 hours per day
    • Lift/push/pull up to 35 pounds
    • Stoop, twist, bend
    • Reach overhead
    • Stand for lengthy periods

 

Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in composition analysis, key parameter analysis, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Solid understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Control Plans, Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • A positive, committed attitude with a proven ability to achieve goals within specified deadlines
  • Willingness and flexibility to occasionally work outside standard hours to support team needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and experienced in using Minitab for data analysis and statistical evaluation
  • Strong ability to analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports, projections, and summaries
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to shared goals
  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for individual and team tasks
  • Commitment to mentoring and developing others within the organization
  • Willingness and ability to travel to other business sites weekly or as needed
  • Proven capability in troubleshooting quality-related issues and implementing effective solutions
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a readiness to support the entire production team as required
