Position Summary
The plant Fire Prevention Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing fire prevention, emergency response, and life safety programs within the facility. This role ensures compliance with fire safety regulations, leads on-site response to fire or hazardous incidents, and promotes a culture of safety and preparedness among all plant employees.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Fire Prevention & Safety Compliance
    • Inspect plant equipment, systems, and processes to ensure compliance with fire codes, NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and local requirements.
    • Monitor and maintain fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, extinguishers, hydrants, suppression systems).
    • Conduct routine fire safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk analyses.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response
    • Lead on-site fire and emergency response team; coordinate drills and live exercises.
    • Act as Incident Commander during fire-related emergencies until relieved by local fire authorities.
    • Develop and maintain the plant’s fire and emergency response plans.
  • Training & Awareness
    • Train employees in fire prevention, evacuation procedures, and emergency equipment use.
    • Promote a strong fire safety culture through awareness campaigns and regular communication.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting
    • Investigate all fire-related incidents, near misses, or hazardous conditions.
    • Document findings, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
    • Work closely with Plant Safety, Security, and Maintenance teams to mitigate risks.
    • Liaise with local fire departments and emergency services to ensure strong external coordination.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to fire safety infrastructure and policies.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Certification as Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, or Firefighter II (NFPA or state recognized) strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes, OSHA standards, and industrial fire protection systems.
  • Experience in fire protection, safety, or emergency response in industrial/manufacturing settings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills under pressure.

 

 

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including use of firefighting equipment and personal protective gear.
  • Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials, high-noise environments, and varying weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to support activities on off-shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by incident response or operational needs.
