Summary:  

The Supervisor, Cell Quality Assurance (QA) will oversee quality inspections and ensure the inspection work areas are maintained to required standards. This involves supervising the performance of inspection activities that measure and evaluate the quality of battery products, accurately defining nonconformance, and incorporating these findings into the quality management system. The role also involves communicating with team members conducting inspections to follow standards and engage in problem-solving techniques. Additionally, the position requires leading the development and continuous improvement of inspection environments and methods. The Supervisor, Cell QA will work collaboratively with team members at all levels and departments of the organization in pursuit of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the performance of Team Members engaged in the inspection activity of battery cell assembly
  • Mentor and train others to ensure quality standards are met
  • Promote safe work behaviors and practices and enforce rules and regulations
  • Evaluate inspectors’ competencies and proficiency; provide training to support improvements
  • Audit and support compliance to quality standards
  • Manage periodic audit data and escalate abnormalities to managers or senior leadership, as required
  • Analyze defects that occur during the assembly process and final product test, collaborating cross-functionally with production, engineering and equipment counterparts on corrective actions
  • Conduct internal audits (process parameter audit, in-line inspection machine audit, particle audit) and process investigations to improve process stability and capabilities.
  • Share subject matter expertise of quality management system, providing coaching and awareness to others
  • Maintain Lab and testing equipment/methods with proper instruction including Optical Measurement Machine, Karl Fischer Titration, Universal Testing Machine etc.
  • Frequent communication with team members to share and implement verified corrective actions from engineers
  • Ensure adherence to and maintain for accuracy the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for inspections, as required.
  • Operate quality inspections based on the Quality Management System (QMS) and manage the quality inspection record data. Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

         o 5S - Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain

         o 3R - Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container

  • Conduct thorough and timely Layered Process Audits in appropriate work areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience leading and managing team members
  • Six Sigma training or certification, desired
  • High School Diploma/General Educational Development or higher degree required
  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a period of up to 12 hours
    • Safety glasses
    • Steel-toed shoes
  • Must be able to perform the following over the course of up to 12 hours per day
    • Lift/push/pull up to 35 pounds
    • Stoop, twist, bend
    • Reach overhead
    • Stand for lengthy periods

 

Skills:

  • Proven experience in utilizing equipment for component analysis, including optical microscopy, optical dimensional measurement, and peel-off testing
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Control Plans, Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics, and key parameters for conducting process audits
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving goals on time with a positive and dedicated attitude
  • Willingness and flexibility to work irregular hours when necessary to support team and production needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and statistical analysis software such as Minitab
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to generate detailed reports, forecasts, and summaries
  • Ability to apply logical reasoning and scientific principles to identify root causes of quality issues, with a continuous improvement mindset and innovative problem-solving capabilities
  • Skilled in supporting and guiding team members through inspection-related challenges and promoting effective teamwork
  • High level of ownership and accountability, with a proactive approach to fulfilling responsibilities
  • Knowledge of quality issue troubleshooting and effective implementation of corrective actions
