The team
We are the Engineering team. We exist to build the products and automation that will drive Liberis’ exponential growth in the embedded finance market.
There are 90 of us based across the UK & Mumbai, we split ourselves into domain aligned teams working on a specific part of our product offering: Customer Experience Platform, Partner Experience, Internal Tooling, Funding, Decisioning & Pricing; as well as across a few supporting functions: DevEx, Data, Architecture, & support.
Our mission is to build composable, modular technology platforms that will close the global SME funding gap.
We are collaborative (with each other, and with our users), and we value moving fast by fixing things.
THE ROLE
- You are a hands-on Senior Frontend Software Engineer with 7+ years of work experience, passionate about creating exceptional and intuitive user experiences in fast-paced, highly collaborative startups.
- You are an expert in modern frontend technologies, responsible for the entire frontend lifecycle, from concept and architecture to deployment.
- You are a master of Next.js and React, with a deep understanding of their best practices, and will take ownership of the frontend architecture and drive technical decisions.
- You are comfortable working in the early stages of defining and solving business problems, turning complex requirements into elegant, user-centric solutions.
- You value collaboration and responding to change over negotiation and rigidly following a plan.
- You can lead and mentor a team of top-notch developers, take care of their growth roadmap, and manage stakeholder expectations like a breeze while making decisions independently.
- You know how to contribute to a high-performing team and always optimize for team performance over individual performance.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the development of responsive, accessible, and highly performant user-facing features using Next.js and React.
- Architect and build reusable, high-quality frontend components and libraries for future use.
- Work in collaborative, customer-obsessed teams to build fantastic experiences for internal and external users.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Champion frontend best practices, including writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Establish and maintain high standards for code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and other quality assurances.
- Take part in our entire software lifecycle, from ideation, to building, to maintenance, to collecting feedback and improving.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Contribute to our distributed, global architecture while defending our quality and performance requirements.
What we think you’ll need
- Extensive professional experience in frontend development, with exceptional proficiency in Next.js, React, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- A strong portfolio demonstrating your experience in building complex, scalable, and user-centric web applications.
- Deep understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and core web concepts.
- Experience with modern frontend development tools, including bundlers (e.g., Webpack), package managers, and testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress).
- An understanding of working with Agile methods, such as Extreme Programming, Kanban, or Scrum.
- Proven experience mentoring more junior team members.
- Resilience in early-stage business situations, where requirements are evolving and experimentation is required.
- A willingness to learn our broader tech stack, including C# .net and GCP, to better collaborate with backend teams.
Bonus points if
- Experience building data-heavy products e.g. ETL pipelines, event streamlining, or data mesh approaches.
- Experience with cloud technologies (we mostly use Azure and GCP).
- Experience using highly collaborative methods such as ensemble, mob, or pair programming.
- A strong commitment to Test-Driven Development.
- Previous experience in the financial software industry.
