About the Job
We’re seeking an experienced and innovative Principal Product Designer to join the Life360 Product Design team at a pivotal moment in our growth. As part of our newly formed Ads Operating Group, you’ll help build an ad and promotions platform from-the-ground-up that delivers meaningful value to families while driving membership and revenue growth. This is a zero-to-one opportunity for a visionary designer who thrives on experimentation, scalability, and crafting intuitive, impactful experiences.
In this role, you’ll own the end-to-end design of advertising systems that feel seamless, respectful, and valuable. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to define strategies, prototype innovative ideas, and iterate using data insights. Your work will balance business goals with user needs, ensuring that ads enhance — rather than interrupt — Life360 members’ experiences.

The US-based salary range for this position is $162,000-$238,500. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You Will Do
As a Principal Product Designer at Life360, you’ll lead the design of our ad and promotions platform, building it from the ground up to deliver seamless, valuable experiences that enhance family life while driving business growth.
You will:
- Design intuitive, user-centric ad experiences that balance user needs with business goals.
- Partner with product, engineering, and analytics teams to identify opportunities and deliver innovative solutions.
- Prototype and iterate rapidly, using qualitative and quantitative insights to drive improvements.
- Develop scalable design systems in Figma that support ad and promotional experiences across the app.
- Ensure accessibility compliance to make experiences inclusive and user-friendly.
- Advocate for user needs while delivering engaging ad solutions that align with Life360’s mission to improve everyday family life.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a seasoned Principal Product Designer who is independent, data-driven, and collaborative, with a passion for building thoughtful, scalable ad experiences in consumer-facing products.
You should have:
- 7+ years of product design experience, ideally with ad or promotional systems.
- A strong portfolio showcasing intuitive, impactful user experiences.
- Proficiency in Figma and design systems, with a focus on scalable, reusable components.
- A data-driven mindset, collaborating with analytics teams to improve experiences.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills to articulate design decisions across the company.
- Experience partnering with product managers and engineers to deliver high-quality solutions in fast-paced environments.
- A growth-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset, ready to drive impact and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Bonus qualifications:
- Experience with motion design and animation for interactive ad experiences.
- Familiarity with growth-focused design practices and retention strategies.
