About the Role 💡

We’re looking for a Trade Surveillance Manager to join our Operations team in Sydney. Reporting to the COO as part of Life Trading’s compliance function, this role will be in charge of all proprietary trade surveillance to ensure adherence to regulations and company standards. The Trade Surveillance Manager will monitor trading activity, conduct investigations, engage with traders on compliance matters, and maintain accurate, comprehensive records of all surveillance activities.

Your Mission at Life Trading 🎯

• Manage all Trade Surveillance and Reporting activities.
• Conduct securities surveillance using SMARTS and derivatives surveillance using TT to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Undertake trade investigations using Python to analyse and review trades.
• Discuss trading behaviours directly with traders to provide guidance and insights.
• Carry out routine surveillance and compliance checks across trading operations.
• Prepare Board reporting on surveillance activities, trends, and any key issues.
• Handle surveillance alert calibration and ongoing management to maintain effectiveness.
• Ensure trade surveillance records are fully and accurately documented.
• Maintain awareness of surveillance requirements in line with market and regulatory developments.
• Provide coverage and support for the Compliance team as needed.

What We’re Looking For 👀

• Familiarity with SMARTS for trade surveillance and monitoring.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in market or trade surveillance.
• Solid understanding of trading activities and prohibited trading practices.
• Previous experience working in trade surveillance within proprietary trading firms, regulators, or clearing houses.

• Ability to write in Python to investigate and analyse trading data.
