Field Service Engineer – East Coast, USA

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join our growing US team. Based on the East Coast, this will be the first US-based FSE, a unique opportunity to help establish and scale Lightcast’s customer support presence in North America.
In this key role, you will:
- Work directly with early-access and commercial customers, ensuring smooth installations, maintenance, and system uptime.
- Serve as a critical link between customers, engineering, and applications teams in both the US and UK.
- Build trusted relationships with customers who are using Lightcast’s technology to advance science and medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installations, preventative maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of Lightcast Envisia™ systems.
- Provide responsive and high-quality technical support to customers and collaborators.
- Manage logistics for systems, spare parts, and tools to ensure timely service delivery.
- Use service management systems to plan, document, and track all service activities.
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and applications teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Identify opportunities for product and process improvements and communicate customer insights to internal teams.
- Support logistics and partner service coordination for a seamless customer experience.
- Travel extensively (>50%) across North America and occasionally to the UK headquarters for training and meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 5+ years of field-based service experience, ideally in analytical, life science, or high-tech instrumentation.
- Strong technical knowledge across optical, electrical, and mechanical systems; experience in microfluidics or droplet-based technologies is a plus.
- Proficiency with Windows OS, computer hardware, and networking.
- Experience with service ticketing systems and structured customer support processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Team-oriented, flexible, and self-driven with a genuine passion for technology and science.
