ServiceNow Platform Engineer

Washington, DC

LightFeather is seeking a ServiceNow Platform Engineer to own a new ServiceNow environment for a federal program. This position offers the opportunity to build an environment from the ground up (provisioning, configuration, security hardening, integration enablement, and readiness validation) within a secure federal enclave, and to serve as the platform owner supporting module implementation (including CMDB), platform upgrades, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform expert who is comfortable taking an environment from zero to production and staying with it as it grows.

Major responsibilities include standing up, configuring, securing, and maintaining the ServiceNow platform, establishing the design and administration standards that keep the environment stable, and collaborating with security, infrastructure, and program stakeholders to deliver a compliant, production-ready platform.

  • Location: Hybrid in Washington, D.C. 20036
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: $180,000–$200,000 annually, based on experience level.
  • Clearance Requirement: U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to federal contract requirements. Top Secret clearance is required. Candidates holding an active Secret clearance are encouraged to apply, and LightFeather sponsors an upgrade to Top Secret for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stand up and configure a new ServiceNow environment within a secure federal enclave, establishing the instance architecture, baseline configurations, and administration standards
  • Install, configure, and maintain MID Servers and establish secure connectivity within the environment
  • Configure authentication, authorization, and access management (LDAP/Active Directory, SSO/SAML, role-based access controls)
  • Harden the platform in accordance with federal security and operational standards, including NIST and FISMA requirements and applicable DISA STIGs, and support Assessment and Authorization (ATO) activities
  • Establish and maintain platform administration baselines, including system properties, plugin activation, instance security settings, and upgrade and patch management processes
  • Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise systems using REST/SOAP web services and IntegrationHub, as permitted within the environment
  • Support ongoing implementation and optimization of platform modules, including ITSM and CMDB, in collaboration with the broader team
  • Maintain update sets, environment documentation, build procedures, and technical design records
  • Utilize an Agile/Scrum methodology to manage platform and development work
  • Participate in client calls and technical discussions, coordinating with security, infrastructure, and program stakeholders to resolve dependencies and design gaps early

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, and engineering on the ServiceNow platform
  • Demonstrated experience standing up new ServiceNow instances or leading instance-level builds and migrations
  • Strong scripting ability (server-side and client-side JavaScript, Glide APIs, Business Rules, Script Includes)
  • Experience with MID Server installation and configuration, and with platform integrations using REST/SOAP web services
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • Familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks (NIST, FISMA, STIGs)
  • Experience working on project teams that leverage Agile/Scrum
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate and listen well with business and technical people, regardless of title, with good self-awareness

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in federal or defense contracting environments, particularly in classified, air-gapped, or otherwise isolated networks.
  • ServiceNow CAD (Certified Application Developer) or a CIS (Certified Implementation Specialist) certification.
  • Hands-on experience with CMDB, ITOM, or Discovery.
  • Experience with release coordination, version control, environment management, and automated testing strategies, including the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF).
  • Experience supporting Windows Server implementation, upgrades, and integrations as required by the environment.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
