Description
We are looking for a talented, driven engineering student with an interest in additive manufacturing and materials to join our Process Engineering team. You will be part of a growing team that is designing and implementing advanced manufacturing processes that enable high-volume production of customized medical devices. As a Process Engineer Co-op, you will have the opportunity to support and lead mission-critical projects spanning early-stage development of new processes to production scale-up and process optimization. This position is based in Wilmington, MA and has a 6-month duration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process development and characterization to support buildout of new processes and optimization of existing processes, e.g. feedstock production, printing and post-processing (cleaning, curing, sintering, finishing)
- Root cause analysis, design of experiments and risk analysis to troubleshoot production issues and identify and implement solutions
- Execute validation and qualification protocols for new and existing processes and equipment, e.g. IQ/OQ/PQ
- Create, improve and deploy documentation for work instructions and SOPs; improve technician workflows (e.g. to improve quality or efficiency) and digitize processes to enable data-driven approaches
Education & Experience
- In-Progress Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar
Required Qualifications
- Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to execute and deliver results
- Exceptional engineering and analytical ability with demonstrated project experience
- Eager to learn and comfortable working in an aggressive fast-paced environment
- Interest in advanced manufacturing methods and solving problems inherent to the scale-up of new technologies
- Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills

Work Environment
- Work is generally performed in an open office, sedentary position
