Position: RCM Payment Specialist

Job Summary: The RCM Payment Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely posting of all payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts in the electronic health record (EHR) system. This role requires attention to detail, reconciliation of deposits, and resolution of payment discrepancies. The specialist works closely with the billing team, finance leadership, and other departments to ensure that patient accounts are up to date, accurate, and compliant with payer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and denials in Carelogic (or designated EHR system)
  • Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs) to determine correct payment allocation, contractual adjustments, and denial codes
  • Reconcile daily electronic deposits and payment batches with bank statements and deposit records provided by the CFO
  • Identify, research, and resolve unapplied cash, duplicate postings, and payment discrepancies
  • Transfer balances to patient responsibility when applicable and coordinate with the billing team for follow-up
  • Maintain documentation of posting and reconciliation processes to ensure transparency and audit readiness
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff to resolve payment-related issues
  • Assist with denial trends by flagging and reporting recurring issues to the RCM leadership team
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling accounts and preparing payment-related reports
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer regulations, and company policies in all payment posting activities
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare payment posting, billing, or revenue cycle management
  • Experience with Carelogic or similar EHR/billing platforms
  • Must pass BCI check, all Corporate Compliance checks, and employment drug screen

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, healthcare administration, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB), Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), and denial/adjustment codes
  • Understanding of medical billing, insurance claim cycles, and healthcare revenue cycle processes

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30a-5pm

Location: 140 E Town St Columbus, OH 43215 (remote option is available)
