Given Lightship’s distributed model and the remote nature of this position the Accountant possesses a willingness and desire to work independently without significant oversight.  

 This is a 3-month, part time, remote opportunity based in the United States with the potential to extend. 

The Accountant is responsible for:

  • Preparing and booking general ledger entries to ensure a timely and accurate monthly close
  • Preparing monthly account reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts, department spend review, identifying/resolving discrepancies and reporting financial misstatements 
  • Assisting with Accounts Payable/Receivable or other projects and tasks as needed 
  • Answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data 
  • Assisting with preparing consolidated financial statements 

The Accountant has:

  • Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP standards 
    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of organization, verbally and in writing, with confidence and clarity  
    • Ability to drive results in order to meet or exceed important deadlines

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field 
  • 2+ years of full cycle / general ledger accounting experience 
  • Experience with life sciences, pharmaceutical or clinical life sciences, preferred 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Experience with NetSuite, preferred 
  • Knowledge of Accounts payable and bank payment entries required 
  • International accounting or foreign currency experience would be a plus 
  • Requisite combination of education, training, and experience

The base salary range for this role is between $30.00 - $55.00 an hour depending on education, skills, and experience.  To determine our compensation, we use a market-based approach that is geographically neutral. We believe that this demonstrates our company value of ‘believing in people’ – valuing the outputs and performance of each team member.

Please note: For the safety of our patients and each other, all positions at Lightship that require travel, in-person participation, or are patient-facing, do require vaccination against COVID-19.
