Senior Product Designer, Instore Selling
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by đ
Actively looking for a new opportunity to work on a team focusing on projects with real business impact? Do you thrive in environments where you can help raise the bar for quality, drive collaboration, and mentor others to reach their full potential? If so, you might be in the right place!
Lightspeed is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Instore Selling team. In this role, youâll own the point-of-sale and accounting space, creating intuitive experiences that will enhance merchants day-to-day through iterative design and delivery.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Product Designer who is comfortable working in an environment where autonomy and proactiveness is key. You have a proven track record of transforming complex workflows into simple, clear customer journeys with user-friendly interfaces that seamlessly integrate with other workflows. You excel at identifying opportunities to deliver value and thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers and product managers to create impactful experiences.
What youâll do:
- Lead project work from a design perspective with autonomy and authority, facilitating design reviews and working sessions to help the teams deliver the best possible solutions
- Leverage your UX expertise and deep understanding of design systems, UI design, and how micro-interactions can help users complete a task
- Proactively find ways to contribute during backend-heavy phases â whether thatâs sharpening specs, running exploratory research, building alignment across teams, or getting ahead of future design work before itâs formally scoped
- Turn nebulous concepts into specific ideas that are useful and delightful product features
- Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and user-friendly
- Oversee UX and UI from conception to launch
- Understand how to best use the current design system to ensure consistency across platforms and contribute to its continuous improvement
- Draw insights from research and data, and know how to turn those insights into tangible solutions.
- Build relationships and advocate for the user when collaborating with cross-functional teams in product, engineering, and marketing.
- Explores and integrates AI and emerging technologies to shape new approaches.
- Be a positive role model and culture carrier within the studio as well as an advocate for design within the Lightspeed organization.
What you need to bring:
- A design-thinking education or equivalent (Design, Visual Arts, Architecture, Industrial Design, or Communication);
- At least 5 years of practical, in-house product, UX/UI design experience.
- Excellent communication skills. You can bring internal stakeholders on your design journey and explain work with focus and brevity.
- Excellent visualization and conceptual skills. You can synthesize something complex into something simple and aesthetic.
- Experience working across all digital and physical manifestations of what we design - from the responsive web to native applications to the next technological leap.
- Comfort working in technically complex environments. You donât need to write code, but youâre not intimidated by architecture docs, data models, or engineering discussions.
- Fluency in use of design systems, prototyping, and user research methodologies.
- An acute level of self-awareness and deep empathy - for both the customer and your teamâs goals.
- A deep curiosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision. You donât just care about âhow it looks,â or âwhat we should design,â but âwhy are we designing this at all?â
- A curiosity to continuously evolve your design process by leveraging AI tools to deliver better, more user-centered products.
- An arsenal of design tools such as Figma, Google Suite, JIRA, and other prototyping tools.
- As a global company with employees and clients outside of Quebec, fluency in English as a working language is required for this position.
