Junior Cybersecurity Analyst

Are you passionate about protecting networks, systems, and applications from cyber threats? Lightspeed Systems is looking for a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst to join our team and help safeguard our security infrastructure.

As a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst on our team, you will participate in identifying and preventing cyber threats to Lightspeed Systems’ networks, systems, and applications.  Your duties will include reviewing system logs for indicators of compromise utilizing SIEM and cybersecurity tools, performing level 1 assessment of incoming security alerts, and assisting with the management and operation of the company’s security infrastructure. The Junior Cybersecurity Analyst role is an entry-level position where you'll work under the supervision of a senior cybersecurity Engineer until you have gained the necessary skills and experience to work on your own. 

ABOUT THE ROLE: 

• Performing level 1 assessment of incoming alerts, security events (assessing the priority of the alert, determining severity of alert, correlating additional details) and coordinating with Senior Analysts for high priority incidents.
• Performing administrative routines of the SOC such as evaluating reports, reviewing SIEM dashboards and reviewing ticket escalations.
• Monitoring CVE feeds, creating remediation tickets in Jira, and ensuring teams complete work within policy.
• Creating and maintaining AWS Indentify Access Management roles in Terraform.
• Participate in on-call rotation for security incidents (after a reasonable on-boarding period, perhaps six months)
• Operate scanners for network assessments
• Review vulnerability reports from customers to determine if any findings apply to LSS products
• Assist with maintaining inventories 

NOTE:  

• This is a hybrid position and several days each week will be required onsite at our Austin, Texas headquarters.

ABOUT YOU: 

• Excellent oral, written, collaborative, and interpersonal skills
• Basic knowledge of network technologies
• Basic IP Networking skills
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Server Operating System, MacOS and Linux
• Basic knowledge of security across various platforms, including workstations and servers, mobile devices, wireless networks, and public cloud infrastructure
• Very good problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated and passionate about cyber security
• Ability to collaborate and communicate complex, technical concepts across the team
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced, agile environment
• Passion for continuous process and technology improvement
• AWS Experience and Terraform experience a plus
• Strong propensity for attention to detail 

Beneficial Knowledge & Skills: 

• Knowledge of AWS services, AWS Cloud Practitioner certification a plus
• CompTIA Security+ Certification
• Experience using security tools like Lima Charlie, Sophos, ManageEngine
• Use of a ticketing system such as Jira
