🌟 Your Impact at Lila

Lila is seeking a seasoned Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and deployment of our electrical systems in our automated scientific equipment.  In this role, you will be pivotal in developing robust electrical solutions, fostering innovation, and driving strategic initiatives to enhance laboratory automation.
:hammer_and_wrench: What You'll Be Building
  • Electrical Systems Design: Architect and implement comprehensive electrical solutions using CAD tools and design software to create wiring schematics optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Design and build prototypes swiftly, applying agile methodologies to test and refine electrical systems and components for novel instruments.
  • Research & Design: Work with other engineers and scientists to convert manual benchtop scientific solutions into automated workflows in an R&D setting.
  • Custom Solutions: Develop and implement process instrumentation, sensors, and field-level control devices, ensuring precision and reliability in system performance.
  • Integration: Lead the integration of electrical systems with various automation platforms, ensuring interoperability and seamless functionality.
  • Software Integration: Collaborate with software teams to integrate control systems with broader IT infrastructure, leveraging REST APIs, Python, C++, etc.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce thorough documentation for prototypes and projects, including wiring schematics, test plans, and results analysis.
  • Project Leadership: Manage complex engineering projects, defining scope, setting milestones, and ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Collaboration and Mentorship: Engage with cross-functional teams, to gather requirements and deliver tailored engineering solutions, mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and work with production teams to enable the factory scaling of prototype equipment.
:toolbox: What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical systems design and integration within a complex engineering environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD software and electrical design tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards such as UL508A and IEC 60204-1 to ensure designs are safety-compliant.
  • Experience with integration technologies, including embedded controllers, PLCs, HMIs, and relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Great troubleshooting skills with a familiarity with electrical troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset for effective cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to quality and innovation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with SMEs and internal stakeholders.

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a scientific, R&D, or life science environment with a focus on laboratory automation.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and IoT integration for smart laboratory solutions.
