š Your Impact at Lila
Lila Sciences is seeking a thoughtful and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our physical sciences team, with a focus on porous material characterization. This is a hands-on, lab-based opportunity for pre-doctoral candidates to support experimental workflows that involve powder sample preparation, gas and vapor isotherm measurements, and data processing for materials discovery. Youāll also contribute to the synthesis of novel materials supporting a new paradigm of AI-guided science. Your work will directly enable faster and more intelligent iteration across scientific hypotheses, experimental design, and real-world impact.
š ļø What You'll Be Building
- Prepare and handle powder samples for porosity analysis and other physical characterization
- Perform gas and vapor isotherm measurements using volumetric and/or gravimetric techniques
- Analyze adsorption/desorption data to extract surface area, pore size distribution, and pore volume etc
- Synthesize materials with targeted properties under guidance of scientific leads
- Collaborate with experimentalists and machine learning scientists to design and refine workflows
š§° What Youāll Need to Succeed
- Bachelorās or Masterās degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Prior experience in preparing and handling powder samples
- Hands-on work with gas and/or vapor isotherm instrumentation (volumetric and/or gravimetric)
- Understanding of porosity data analysis
- Strong attention to detail and documentation in a lab setting
⨠Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with high throughput porosity measurement platforms
- Experience synthesizing porous materials (e.g., MOFs, zeolites, porous carbons, oxides)
- Knowledge of adsorption thermodynamics or surface science principles
- Programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for automating data analysis
