Your Impact at Lila

As a Senior Research Associate, your contributions will be pivotal in shaping the future of Lila Sciences' LNP-RNA therapies. You will take lead ownership of our mammalian cell-based RNA expression and characterization, developing and implementing robust cell-based assays that generate the high-quality data required for informed decision-making and the successful progression of our pipeline. This is a hands-on role where your expertise directly translates into tangible advancements.

What You'll Be Building

  • Execute RNA transfections (pooled and arrayed) in diverse primary and established mammalian cell models
  • Apply molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, and RNA-seq for LNP-RNA expression and characterization
  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive mammalian cell-based assays for LNP-RNA therapeutic candidates, covering proliferation, cytotoxicity, potency, ADCC, ADCP, and immunotoxicity (T cell activation)
  • Contribute to the development, optimization, and implementation of robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assay scale-up and automation
  • Operate and troubleshoot automated equipment and high-throughput platforms, including liquid handlers, plate readers, flow cytometers (FACS), and high-content imagers
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration, perform rigorous data analysis and interpretation (Python proficiency beneficial), and efficiently manage multiple concurrent projects

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Education & Experience: MS with 2+ years or BS with 4+ years of relevant industry experience in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Cell Culture & Transfection: Extensive hands-on experience with diverse mammalian cell lines, primary cells, PBMCs, and established complex cell lines. Proficiency in high-throughput DNA/RNA transfections.
  • Assay Development: Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing a broad range of in vitro functional assays, including T cell activation and proliferation, cytotoxicity, potency, ADCC, and standard immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, MSD) to support R&D and CMC initiatives.
  • Molecular Biology: Proven experience with RNA characterization assays, applying molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction, qPCR, and RNA-seq.
  • Automation & High-Throughput: Practical experience operating automated liquid handlers, plate readers, and flow cytometers (FACS). Familiarity with SOP development for assay scale-up.
  • Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex biological data.
  • Collaboration & Adaptability: Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-project environment.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with stem cell culture and differentiation techniques.
  • Exposure to Python for data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with high-content imaging systems for advanced cellular analysis.
  • Familiarity or experience with gene editing, advanced sequencing and barcoding assays.
