Content Writer - Developer Education

Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Content Writer to contribute to our Developer Education Initiative, focused on equipping developers with insights into audience growth and engagement strategies within games and entertainment applications.

In this role, you will research, synthesize, and develop compelling content to be published on the Developer Center, ensuring a cohesive and insightful narrative tailored to our developer ecosystem. You will work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including product teams and industry experts, to refine and finalize materials. The content will encompass games and apps as a service, including free-to-play games, premium apps with add-on content, and subscription-based entertainment and fitness applications.

This position is ideal for a strong communicator with experience in the digital app industry, a passion for game design and product management, and the ability to create engaging, educational content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Create engaging written materials for the Developer Center, delivering data-driven insights and strategic guidance for game and app developers.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, gathering and integrating feedback to refine and approve content before publication.
  • Industry Research: Conduct primary and secondary research on audience engagement and monetization strategies in games and entertainment apps.
  • Editorial Excellence: Build cohesive narratives based on research findings, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and relevance.
  • Project & Deadline Management: Demonstrate strong organizational skills to track progress, meet deadlines, and independently manage content development.

Must-Have Skills

  1. Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the digital app ecosystem, particularly free-to-play games and subscription-based apps.
  2. Experience: 2-5 years of experience in game design, product management, or production within the games or entertainment industry.
  3. Entry-Level Accessibility: Open to candidates with limited industry experience but foundational knowledge of the games sector.
  4. Domain Expertise: Passion for game design and product management, with the ability to critically evaluate industry trends.
  5. Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to collaborate cross-functionally with industry experts, developers, and internal teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  1. Publishing Experience: Prior experience publishing blog posts, articles, or research papers on the gaming industry.
  2. Writing Samples: Ability to provide high-quality writing samples focused on free-to-play gaming and industry insights.
  3. Business Acumen: Understanding of business principles and monetization models within the digital app ecosystem.
  4. Performance Analytics: Experience in data analysis, with the ability to provide strategic recommendations for revenue growth and player engagement.

Education & Interviews

  • Education: B.A. or B.S. in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Interview Process: One panel interview round assessing expertise in:
    • Free-to-play games and industry knowledge
    • Business models and monetization strategies
    • Game design and product management fundamentals
    • Program management and content development
    • Writing samples and editorial expertise

Location: United States (Remote, PST preferred)

Role type: Contract 12 Month Position 

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday (Extended schedule as needed Saturday-Sunday)
