Content Specialist Job Description

Summary: The primary role of a Content Specialist is to write, review, and edit content on our platforms, often dealing with nuanced and sensitive topics. The ideal candidate will possess excellent editorial judgment and expert writing and editing skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and review content for our platforms, ranging from creative copy to straightforward, informative text.
  • Utilize excellent writing skills in various use cases across our platforms, demonstrating mastery of different writing styles and creativity.
  • Perform analysis and generate reports with compelling, actionable insights for our partners.
  • Apply guidelines to review content at scale, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with content and product teams to enhance user experience.
  • Be able to work an extended schedule as required, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in journalism, digital content strategy, production, or relevant skills.
  • Prior experience in prompt engineering, annotation, and using AI tools.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and a proven track record of editorial judgment on nuanced topics (politics, bias, gender, religion, etc.) for quality control of large text datasets.
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet applications (e.g., Google Sheets, MS Excel) and/or other data analytics tools.
  • Ability to perform and support basic data analysis and visualization.
  • Editorial experience in creating and publishing multimedia content across various formats, including text, audio, and video.
  • Background in visual experience (photo editing, video production) or creative writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of the social media landscape.
  • Storytelling experience.


Education/Experience:
• Bachelors degree required.

Location: United States (Remote)

Role type: Contract 6 Month Position

Expected hours: 40 per week
