Safety Policy Manager – Youth Well-Being & AI
Summary
The Safety Policy team collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand and address the impact of our platform on the safety and well-being of teens, while supporting a diverse global community through thoughtful policies, tools, resources, and partnerships. We are seeking a Safety Policy Manager with 5+ years of experience in academia, technology, or the policy sector to help shape our approach to youth safety and well-being in the context of AI.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to deliver results under tight deadlines, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and offer pragmatic, creative solutions to business challenges. They should be skilled in providing concise, business-focused guidance, clearly articulating policy rationale to varied audiences, and exercising sound judgment in high-stakes environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams and external experts to advise on product, operations, and policy initiatives
- Identify emerging safety issues and lead collaborative problem-solving efforts with internal stakeholders
- Engage with civil society, policy stakeholders, and industry peers to advance youth safety and well-being
- Inform the development of content and product policies, tools, operational responses, programs, and resources
- Support teams working on public policy, communications, and integrity initiatives related to youth safety
- Partner with policy, operations, product, and program teams to foster safe and inclusive online communities
- Represent the organization in meetings with policymakers and key safety policy stakeholders
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in policy, academia, or technology sectors
- Proven ability to work with policy stakeholders and navigate fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience building consensus across public affairs, legal, operations, programs, and product teams
- Exceptional analytical and writing skills, with attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with product managers, engineers, researchers, and executives
- Proficiency in drafting formal policy documentation for diverse audiences
- Experience advising on AI technologies and online platforms (preferred)
- Familiarity with adversarial simulation and red-teaming methodologies (preferred)
- Understanding of AI policy and technology issues, including key stakeholders, research initiatives, and industry trends (preferred)
- Advanced degree in political science, public policy, law, computer science, or a related field (preferred)
