About the role:

The Director of Marketing Operations is the operational architect and integrator of the marketing organization - responsible for building the systems, processes, technology, and cross-functional coordination that enable creative excellence and commercial impact. Reporting to the VP of Brand, this leader transforms how the marketing department operates by strengthening the technology backbone, advancing AI capability, redesigning workflows, and ensuring seamless project and campaign execution from concept to delivery.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Marketing Operations leader who brings a deep understanding of how modern marketing functions operate - including brand, integrated marketing, creative, e-commerce and media, social, activations, and partnerships - and blends that knowledge with operational rigor and strategic foresight. They proactively shape smarter workflows, anticipate risks, and serve as a true thought partner in operations, excelling at mapping complex workflows, optimizing cross-functional alignment, implementing modern marketing technologies, and building a culture of clarity, efficiency, and accountability to ensure downstream marketing operates as a highly orchestrated, insight-driven, and creatively empowered engine.

Functions and duties of this role include, but not limited to:

Operational Infrastructure & Technology Leadership

  • Lead the evolution of the marketing department’s technology ecosystem, including project management systems, workflow automation, collaboration tools, and digital asset management platforms.
  • Champion the department’s AI strategy - identifying high-value use cases, integrating AI capabilities into workflows, and upskilling teams to improve efficiency, decision-making, and creative development.
  • Serve as the business owner for Wrike, overseeing implementation, adoption, training, governance, and continuous evolution of how the platform enables planning, resourcing, visibility, and decision-making for the Downstream marketing organization.

Project, Campaign, and Workflow Management

  • Own the end-to-end operational framework for all marketing campaigns, initiatives, and product launches, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • Re-design the campaign development process to create a more efficient, cross-functional, and insight-driven workflow - clarifying ownership, decision rights, milestone gating, briefing standards, and feedback loops.
  • Establish and continuously improve processes that enhance creative throughput, cross-functional clarity, and speed-to-market while protecting creative quality. Ensure all programs are delivered on time, in full, and with operational excellence.
  • Build a data-driven creative resourcing model using advanced technology and AI capabilities to forecast demand, assess capacity, and align creative investment with brand and commercial priorities.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Collaboration

  • Act as the connective tissue across Downstream Brand, Creative, Consumer Insights, Innovation, Integrated Marketing, Comms, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality/Regulatory, and Finance - building trusted relationships and driving alignment through clear, proactive, and thoughtful communication.
  • Facilitate alignment on timelines, resource allocation, brief quality, and interdependencies for all major initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional operating rhythms, including weekly marketing operations meetings, integrated planning sessions, post-mortems, and workflow optimization sprints.

Process Optimization & Performance Management

  • Establish KPIs and dashboards related to operational efficiency, project velocity, resource utilization, and workflow health.
  • Implement formal post-launch and post-campaign reviews that drive continuous improvement and inform future planning.
  • Design standardized templates, briefing tools, intake processes, and workflow documentation that enhance transparency and accountability across teams.
  • Operate effectively within a hybrid environment that blends enterprise governance with startup agility - knowing when to standardize for scale and when to flex for speed and innovation.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Marketing Operations team of project managers, workflow experts, and technology practitioners (currently 5 direct reports).
  • Coach and elevate all project managers as strategic operators — strengthening their ability to lead ambiguity, anticipate challenges, influence stakeholders, and drive clarity across complex initiatives.
  • Serve as a role model and build culture around proactive problem-solving, calm leadership, bias for action, clear communication in fast-paced, high-visibility environments, and cross-functional partnership.
  • Define career pathways and capabilities needed for the growing Marketing Operations function.
  • Foster strong collaboration with creative, strategy, and brand leaders to ensure operational processes elevate - not hinder - creative ambition.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 10–12+ years of progressive experience in Marketing Operations, Project Management, Marketing Technology, Integrated Production, or related roles within CPG, DTC, or agency environments.
  • Proven experience scaling marketing processes, implementing workflow systems, and managing complex cross-functional programs.
  • Demonstrated success leading MarTech implementations (e.g., Wrike, Asana, Airtable, DAM systems) and driving organization-wide adoption.
  • Strong expertise in operationalizing AI use cases across content creation, workflow automation, analytics, and insight generation.
  • Deep understanding of creative development workflows, integrated marketing processes, campaign planning, and product launch orchestration.
  • Track record of leading process transformation that improves speed, clarity, and creative quality.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing operations or project management teams.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills—capable of influencing at all levels, from individual contributors to senior leadership.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with comfort operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • PMP, Scrum, Agile, or similar certifications are a plus but not required.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
