About the service
The Family Safeguarding Service is nationally recognised for its collaborative and relational model of practice. You will work within a highly skilled multi‑disciplinary team including Adult Mental Health Specialists, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Substance Misuse Workers and specialist Family Practitioners. Practitioners benefit from regular, high‑quality supervision, strong motivational practice, small and supportive teams, hybrid working, and a culture focused on continuous improvement and reflective practice.
About the role
As a Consultant Social Worker in Family Safeguarding, you will support the safeguarding of children and young people across West Hertfordshire. Responsibilities include holding a small caseload of complex safeguarding work, supporting and supervising Social Workers and Senior Practitioners, leading on court work (including attendance), providing management cover in the Team Manager’s absence, ensuring high‑quality assessments and plans, and modelling excellent safeguarding practice. This role naturally supports progression into management.
Essential requirements:
- Social Work qualification & Social Work England registration
- Strong safeguarding practice experience
- Skilled in multi‑agency working
- Competent IT skills
- Full UK driving licence and regular access to a vehicle.
