Social Worker - Child Protection

Liquid Personnel is recruiting an experienced Social Worker to join our client’s Child Protection West Team in Coventry. This role is ideal for practitioners with a strong background in frontline child protection and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and families through robust assessment and intervention.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Child Protection: Lead and complete Section 47 child protection enquiries to safeguard children from significant harm.
  • Assessment: Undertake comprehensive Child and Family Assessments to identify needs and determine appropriate levels of support.
  • Caseload Management: Manage and support caseloads for Children in Need (CIN), children subject to Child Protection Plans (CPP), and Looked After Children (LAC).
  • Legal Proceedings: Support families through the Public Law Outline (PLO) process and initiate court proceedings when required to ensure child safety.
  • Direct Work: Carry out direct work with children and families to ensure timely and appropriate interventions.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with partner agencies to deliver a professional social work response and maintain high practice standards.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely, and up-to-date records in line with statutory requirements and departmental policies.

Benefits:

  • Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Hybrid Policy: A hybrid working model is supported, requiring 3 days per week in the Coventry office.
  • Duty Week: During your designated duty week (every 5th week), you are expected to be office-based every day to respond to service needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have, 

  • Social Work England registration and a recognized social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, or Degree).
  • Frontline Experience: Proven experience in completing child protection enquiries and managing varied caseloads including court work.
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal frameworks, including the Children Act and the Public Law Outline.
  • Assessment Skills: Ability to produce high-quality, analytical assessments that manage risk effectively.
  • Driving Requirement: Access to a vehicle for business use is required as part of the essential car user duties.
