Supervising Social Worker - Connected People’s Team
What will your responsibilities be?
- Kinship Assessments: Undertake detailed and analytical assessments of family and friends (Connected Persons) who are applying to care for children known to them.
- Permanence Planning: Support and assess individuals pursuing Special Guardianship Orders (SGO) as a long-term permanence option for children.
- Court-Directed Work: Navigate complex court processes and care proceedings, ensuring all assessments are robust and submitted within strictly directed timelines.
- Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Keep children’s safety and emotional wellbeing at the heart of your approach, delivering a service that promotes stability and security.
- Supervision & Support: Provide ongoing supervision to approved carers, ensuring they meet the required standards and receive the support necessary to care for vulnerable children.
- Travel: As this team covers a wide area, you will be required to undertake out-of-county travel and occasional overnight stays to complete essential assessments.
Qualifications & Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have,
- Social Work England registration and a recognized social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, or Degree).
- Kinship/Fostering Experience: Prior experience in fostering or specifically within a Connected Persons/Kinship team is highly desirable.
- Legal Expertise: A sound understanding of Court processes, the Children Act, and the various permanence options available to children.
- Resilience: The ability to manage a demanding workload and meet tight court deadlines while maintaining high practice standards.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and access to a car for business use are essential for this role.
