Social Worker – Family Support Team

Wrexham

Our client is looking for a resilient and adaptable Social Worker to join the Family Support Team in Wrexham. This role involves managing a varied caseload of children subject to Care and Support Plans (CASP), Child Protection (CP), Public Law Outline (PLO), and Looked After Children (LAC) until their initial review.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Caseload Management: Manage children subject to CASP, CP, and PLO. For Looked After Children, you will maintain the case until the initial review is held, at which point the child transfers to the Court Team.
  • Duty System: Participate in the team duty rota, responding immediately and effectively to emerging safeguarding matters and crisis situations.
  • Assessment & Planning: Undertake evidence-based assessments and create crisis response plans that are proportionate, managing potential risks while prioritizing the child's best interests.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks to children, developing support plans that minimize harm while working under management supervision or independently based on experience.
  • Relational Practice: Adapt social work techniques to meet the unique needs of individuals, families, and carers, working in partnership to promote positive outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a network of professionals, ensuring clear recording of all involved parties and maintaining accurate, reviewed, and modified care plans.
  • Professional Development: Consolidate skills through mentoring and guidance from experienced practitioners, taking on increasing levels of complexity and responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Social Work England or Social Care Wales registration and a recognized Social Work qualification.
  • Frontline Experience: Proven experience in managing Child Protection and Looked After Children cases within a statutory setting.
  • Crisis Intervention: Ability to think clearly and act decisively in high-pressure duty situations.
  • Recording Proficiency: Ability to navigate and utilize children's recording systems to identify key professional networks and case history.
  • Communication: Strong skills in providing professional support, advice, and decision-making for families in need of support.

Working Hours and Flexibility:

  • Work Pattern: Hybrid working model consisting of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
  • Hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Team Structure: You will be part of a supportive team environment, co-working on complex cases with experienced staff where necessary.
