Experienced Social Worker – MASH / EDT
Our client is seeking highly autonomous and expert Social Workers to join their Children’s Services in Swindon. This role is designed for practitioners who can manage high-level risk and complex caseloads while providing mentorship and modeling best practices for the wider team.
What will your responsibilities be?
In this role, you will:
- Expert Practice: Demonstrate effective practice in complex situations, striking a critical balance between support and statutory control.
- Risk Management: Assess and manage higher levels of risk, liaising confidently with a wide range of senior professionals and partner agencies.
- High-Quality Reporting: Produce robust assessments and professional reports for case conferences and legal functions.
- Leadership & Mentoring: Take responsibility for the practice of others by mentoring Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) and supervising the work of junior staff.
- Capacity Building: Work with families, communities, and voluntary organizations to build capacity and contribute insights on service provision to commissioners.
- Caseload Management: Maintain a complex caseload with a high degree of professional independence and accountability.
Qualifications & Experience:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Social Work England registration and a recognized Social Work qualification.
- Permanent PQE: A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified experience in a permanent setting is a non-negotiable requirement.
- Professional Curiosity: A high level of communication skills and the ability to exercise professional curiosity and "safe" professional boundaries.
- Resilience: Strong emotional resilience and the ability to remain accountable in a high-pressure safeguarding environment.
- Values-Led: A deep commitment to diversity, ethical practice, and core social work values.
- Driving: Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle for visits.
Working Hours and Hybrid Pattern:
- Duty Week: You must be able to attend the office 5 days during your duty week (which occurs every 5 weeks).
- Standard Weeks: When not on duty, the expectation is to be in the office 3 days per week.
- Contract: Ongoing agency placement with a focus on long-term stability.
Additional Benefits:
- Financial Support: A £100 weekly allowance for travel and accommodation is provided for workers residing more than 50 miles from Swindon (guaranteed until 10 May 2026).
