Social Worker – Adult Mental Health
Liquid Personnel is seeking an experienced and dynamic Adult Social Worker to join their integrated Adult Mental Health Team in Portsmouth. This is a varied and fast-paced role supporting individuals with complex mental health needs while responding to safeguarding concerns and delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions.
The successful candidate will be a confident practitioner, comfortable working within a multi-agency environment, offering expert advice, guidance, and support across a wide professional network. This role requires strong safeguarding expertise, professional curiosity, and the ability to manage sensitive and emotive situations while maintaining robust decision-making and risk management.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Managing a diverse caseload within an adult mental health setting, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Leading and contributing to adult safeguarding processes, including triaging concerns, determining appropriate actions, and ensuring legal timescales are met.
- Undertaking and coordinating Section 42 enquiries, alongside non-statutory safeguarding enquiries and risk management processes.
- Conducting risk assessments and care planning, ensuring interventions are proportionate, strengths-based, and focused on improving outcomes.
- Providing specialist safeguarding advice and guidance to a wide range of professionals across health, social care, and partner organisations.
- Working collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory agencies, including police, community mental health teams, hospitals, substance misuse services, housing and homelessness services, care providers, CQC, and third-sector organisations.
- Participating in and contributing to multi-agency risk management meetings, case conferences, and safeguarding forums.
- Ensuring all decision-making, actions, and outcomes are clearly recorded, communicated effectively, and shared appropriately, including feedback to referrers where no further action is required.
- Applying Making Safeguarding Personal principles, ensuring service users remain at the centre of all interventions.
- Demonstrating professional curiosity, creativity, and flexibility, particularly when managing complex and high-risk situations.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have;
- Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW.
- Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years post-qualified experience, with significant experience in adult mental health and safeguarding.
- Legislation Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Making Safeguarding Personal, and safeguarding procedures.
- Skills: Highly developed risk assessment, analytical, and recording skills, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive information. Excellent communication and partnership-working abilities.
- Approach: Demonstrates professional curiosity, sound judgement, and the ability to work creatively and flexibly in challenging situations.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and access to a car typically required for community-based work.
