Occupational Therapist - Urgent Response Team

Liquid Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join an Urgent Response OT Team in Barnet.

This is an exciting opportunity for an OT with strong manual handling expertise who is confident working autonomously within a fast-paced community environment. The role focuses on urgent Occupational Therapy and Moving & Handling assessments to support people at immediate risk and prevent injury, hospital admission and breakdown of care arrangements.

The team covers the whole borough of Barnet and is looking for a proactive, positive and collaborative OT who is passionate about delivering a high-quality service.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Complete urgent Occupational Therapy and Moving & Handling risk assessments
  • Manage a caseload autonomously across the borough
  • Provide specialist manual handling advice and solutions
  • Assess complex transfers and recommend appropriate interventions
  • Complete one duty OT day per week
  • Support safe care delivery and reduce risks to individuals and carers
  • Work alongside colleagues and wider professionals to achieve positive outcomes
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation and maintain high standards of practice

Referral Areas Include:

The team supports cases involving:

  • Unsafe transfers where equipment is unavailable or no longer suitable
  • High risk of physical injury to carers
  • Safeguarding concerns relating to equipment or moving and handling
  • Immediate risk where a person cannot safely transfer, mobilise or manage stairs
  • Equipment failures creating a risk to the individual or carer
  • Requests to increase from single-handed to double-handed care requiring manual handling assessment
  • Palliative care cases where specialist services are not currently involved

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have, 

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Excellent manual handling and moving & handling assessment experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage urgent referrals
  • Experience within community/social care settings
  • Strong clinical reasoning and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and MDT working abilities
  • A positive, proactive approach to supporting service users
  • A car driver is preferred due to community travel requirements.
