About the Role:

As Little Spoon’s first dedicated Inventory Accounting hire, you’ll play a foundational role in bringing inventory accounting fully in-house and building robust systems and processes to support a growing and increasingly complex supply chain. You’ll work closely with Finance, Operations, and external partners to ensure accurate inventory valuation, drive improvements in working capital, and implement scalable controls across the business.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and wants to own and build the inventory accounting function from the ground up.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own end-to-end inventory accounting across all products, locations, and channels
  • Partner with the Operations team to deeply understand physical flows and build accounting processes that reflect operational realities
  • Perform and manage monthly inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and COGS analysis
  • Maintain and enhance inventory-related controls, including physical counts, standard costs, and cutoff procedures
  • Drive improvements in inventory reporting and insights to inform purchasing, demand planning, and working capital decisions
  • Work with 3PLs and co-manufacturers to align reporting and ensure accuracy in inbound/outbound inventory
  • Lead the inventory component of monthly and annual closes; support year-end audit requirements
  • Build scalable SOPs for inventory and cost accounting processes in preparation for ERP implementation
  • Collaborate with FP&A and broader Finance team to improve margin reporting and forecasting
  • Support cross-functional projects that intersect with inventory, including new product launches, supplier transitions, and SKU rationalization

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience, ideally with at least 2 years focused on inventory or cost accounting
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and inventory accounting principles (FIFO, weighted avg, standard costing, etc)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, CPG, or food production environment
  • Strong Excel skills; ERP and inventory management system experience is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to connect granular data to big-picture business insights
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment with evolving processes
  • Clear, proactive communicator who can work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance
  • Bonus: experience supporting ERP implementations or inventory system transitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
