Materials Manager

United States

About The Role:

Little Spoon was founded on the belief that today’s parents are different—equal parts more time-strapped and more food-savvy than ever. We set out to disrupt a century-old category with products and an experience that deliver on what the modern parent deserves.

We’re looking for a Materials Manager who will be responsible for managing inventory levels, ensuring timely availability of materials, and facilitating effective communication across departments and with external partners. With a bias towards action and collaborative problem-solving, this role is crucial in maintaining efficient supply chain operations and meeting our commitment to delivering high-quality meals to our customers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the integration of MRP planning strategies with planning tools in order to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Manage purchasing and inventory for packaging materials to support ongoing production and fulfillment operations: corrugated, insulation, coolant, spouted pouches, sealing film, various printed materials.
  • Update KPIs and trimester goals actively, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Lead all tactical areas of materials and inventory planning to prevent stockouts and optimize inventory levels.
  • Coordinate waste reduction efforts related to perishable, aging, or obsolete raw materials in collaboration with manufacturing and food safety teams.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory management system to track all raw materials and packaging items across product categories.
  • Collaborate with planning, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely procurement and delivery of ingredients and packaging materials.
  • Support receiving and inventory management records of raw materials, including invoice reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, freight partners, copackers, fulfillment centers, and warehouses to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Inform stakeholders of order status, delays, or other relevant information.
  • Work with all divisions and departments to establish and maintain purchasing plans for all raw materials based on up-to-date demand forecasts, with an ability to pivot quickly and scrupulously prioritize competing demands.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A strong ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • A knack for problem-solving with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset that anticipates challenges before they arise.
  • Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity while staying focused on priorities and delivering measurable results.
  • A team-first mentality, bringing positivity, accountability, and adaptability to every interaction.
  • Passion for Little Spoon’s mission and commitment to building processes that help families access high-quality food.

What You’ll Need:

  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory management for food manufacturing, product development, and supply chain operations
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Understanding of procurement, manufacturing, and logistics processes.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to multitask and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Experience with ensuring quality, safety, and good manufacturing processes (GMPs) are followed.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop solutions to ever-changing business needs and competing priorities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to execute daily tasks quickly and error-free.
  • Comfortable working independently and communicating regularly with remote team members.
  • Process-driven with a proactive "get-things-done" attitude.
  • Tech-savvy with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • This position works with all departments, from sales to operations, and has a tremendous impact on overall operational efficiency.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
