ABOUT THIS ROLE 

As the LVT Finishing Department Manager, you will play a crucial, hands-on role in overseeing the metal finishing and powder coating processes. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that your team consistently meets LVT’s high standards of quality and efficiency, leading your team to improve processes and procedures through engagement and problem solving. This involves close collaboration with the Director of Operations, the Manufacturing Engineering team, and other key departments to deliver the excellence our products demand.

In this fast-paced production environment, you will lead by example, engaging directly in the work, ensuring processes align with Lean and 5S principles, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will be expected to drive process enhancements through proactive problem-solving and team involvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce parts and products in accordance with the established safety, Quality Management System (QMS), and cost standards of the Company.
  • Manage technical aspects of powder coating operations, including troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Develop and implement processes to enhance production efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure team adherence to safety protocols, eliminating hazardous conditions.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to meet quality and continuous improvement goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring deadlines are met and production costs are minimized.
  • Provide manpower recommendations to the Director of Manufacturing to maximize product throughput while minimizing costs.
  • Lead, train, and motivate the production team to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory control and ensure accurate ERP data.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure timely equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Promote cross-training for flexibility in scheduling.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including 2-5 years as a powder coating technician.
  • Proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing or powder coating environment, with strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanized powder coating operations, pretreatment, and waste treatment processes.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting powder coat issues, process improvement, and familiar with MRP, ISO, and ERP systems.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel, costing, and physical inventory control.
  • Strong mechanical acumen, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of environmental, OSHA, and safety standards.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50lbs, in a manufacturing setting 
  • This is an in-office position and will require travel as needed (1-2 weeks/year)
  • Excellent communication skills; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
