ABOUT THIS ROLE
LVT is seeking a T1 Powder Coating Technician to produce high-quality finishes by preparing product surfaces (cleaning, sandblasting, masking), loading/unloading parts for curing, and applying primer and powder coating. A critical part of the role is performing rigorous quality control checks and promptly correcting defects and assisting with routine maintenance. This role is responsible for product quality and durability, entrusted with transforming raw products into finished goods that meet rigorous standards for both aesthetics and resilience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Surface Preparation: Assist with cleaning, degreasing, sandblasts, and masks products to prepare them for powder coating. You'll need to identify and address any surface imperfections to ensure optimal powder adhesion and a flawless finish.
- Load and unload- Load and Unload parts on the automated line, and carefully monitor oven temperature and time to guarantee proper curing and a durable finish.
- Quality Control: Perform detailed visual and tactile inspections of all finished products. You will be responsible for identifying and correcting any defects, such as runs, drips, or uneven coverage, to ensure the final product meets our rigorous quality standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Assist in helping with routine maintenance on all Wash equipment, powder coating equipment, including cleaning spray guns, booths, filters and ovens. You will identify minor equipment issues and promptly report any major malfunctions to Team lead and Manager.
- Powder Application: Support operations by assisting with tasks needed to maintain manual and automatic powder coating equipment, including spray guns, booths, and ovens. You will be applying powder and primer as training and needs arise.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all company safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and safety glasses. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaboration: Work independently on assigned tasks while also collaborating with the team to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
- Systems: Track work orders and parts through an ERP or inventory system
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: A minimum 1 year of experience as a powder coat technician or in a similar manufacturing environment is preferred. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of producing high-quality work.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in operating powder coating equipment.
- Strong understanding of surface preparation techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work orders.
- Experience with quality control and inspection processes
- Ability to follow and perform Work Order and Inventory Tracking in an ERP system
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to [e.g., 50] pounds.
- Comfortable with standing for extended periods.
- Possess manual dexterity and a steady hand.
- Able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust and noise.
