ABOUT THIS ROLE

LVT is seeking a Powder Coat Technician I to prepare product surfaces, apply primer and powder coating, and deliver flawless, durable finishes across our production line. This role owns critical surface preparation and quality control steps — cleaning, sandblasting, masking, and inspecting finished parts — to ensure every product meets LVT's standards for aesthetics and resilience. You'll load and unload parts through the curing process, correct defects in real time, and support routine equipment maintenance, directly shaping the quality and durability of the products we ship.

This is an on-site role based at our Spanish Fork, UT production facility. You'll work hands-on with powder coating equipment and production teams daily to keep the line running safely and efficiently.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare product surfaces for powder coating by cleaning, degreasing, sandblasting, plugging, and masking parts, correcting imperfections to ensure optimal adhesion and a flawless finish.
  • Load and unload parts on the automated line, monitoring oven temperature and cure time to guarantee a durable, high-quality finish.
  • Perform visual and tactile inspections on all finished products, identifying and correcting defects such as runs, drips, or uneven coverage to meet quality standards.
  • Apply powder and primer using manual and automatic equipment, building proficiency with spray guns, booths, and ovens as training progresses.
  • Maintain wash and powder coating equipment, including spray guns, booths, filters, and ovens, and report major malfunctions to the Team Lead or Manager.
  • Track work orders and parts through LVT's ERP/inventory system to keep production records accurate.
  • Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements, including respirators, gloves, and safety glasses, and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with the production team to keep workflow moving and meet project timelines while managing assigned tasks independently.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Experience: No prior experience required; 1+ year in manufacturing is a plus.
  • Technical Aptitude: Eager to build proficiency operating powder coating equipment, with a strong grasp of surface preparation techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Reads and interprets technical drawings and work orders accurately, with a sharp eye for quality control and inspection.
  • Systems Skills: Comfortable tracking work orders and inventory through an ERP system.
  • Physical Capability: Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work with manual dexterity and a steady hand in a manufacturing environment with dust and noise.
  • Work Ethic: Brings a strong work ethic, effective time management, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Quality Mindset: Committed to precision and consistency in every finished product.
