Summary: The Resource Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, analysis, and optimization of Lockwood’s workforce planning efforts. This role goes beyond tracking capacity: it partners closely with executive and senior leaders on our account services and scientific services teams to tell the metrics story behind resourcing decisions. By blending data-driven insights with team dynamics, the Resource Manager ensures that the right talent is aligned to the right projects at the right time, supporting both efficient delivery and strategic growth across client accounts and internal teams.

The Resource Manager leverages Lockwood’s skills application and workforce data to optimize assignments, anticipate needs, and communicate actionable insights to business leaders. This role is critical to ensuring timely project delivery, maximizing resource utilization, and building visibility into staffing operations in a way that empowers teams to plan with confidence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Workforce Planning & Resource Analytics

  • Partner with account and scientific team leads to align staffing allocations with project demands, using team dynamics knowledge to contextualize decisions.
  • Apply the skills application and workforce data to build a holistic view of capacity, skillsets, and team strengths.
  • Support proactive workforce planning by identifying short-term gaps and long-term resource trends.
  • Track freelance and contractor needs; partner with HR and vendors to close capability or bandwidth gaps quickly.

Operational Analytics & Metrics Storytelling

  • Maintain dashboards and tracking systems that provide accurate, real-time visibility into team availability, utilization, and skills distribution.
  • Translate corporate data into clear, actionable narratives for team leaders, helping them understand the "why" behind resource allocations.
  • Run weekly utilization, capacity, and projection reports; frame insights in a way that supports business planning, pipeline forecasting, and scenario modeling.
  • Highlight trends (e.g., over/underutilization, skill gaps, workload distribution) and recommend adjustments that improve efficiency and project outcomes.

Process Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive consistency in resourcing processes (assignment tracking, time forecasting, data accuracy) while continuously refining tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and HR to improve workforce planning practices and integrate data into broader business processes.
  • Champion adoption of the skills application, ensuring teams understand and apply it for transparent and effective staffing decisions.

Collaboration & Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted partnerto account and scientific leadership, framing staffing recommendations with both metrics and team dynamics in mind.
  • Communicate resourcing insights and changes proactively, ensuring leaders understand both the data and context behind adjustments.
  • Act as the central point of contact for resourcing queries, balancing tactical requests with strategic workforce planning.

 

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in resource management, workforce planning, or operations; experience in the Medical Communications industry preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret workforce data, identify trends, and tell a compelling metrics-driven story.
  • Proficiency in workforce and project planning tools (e.g.,  Smartsheet, Knack, Clickup) and comfort with skills-mapping applications.
  • Advanced Excel and dashboarding/reporting capabilities (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a strong plus.
  • Highly collaborative working style; able to bridge operational, scientific, and account perspectives.
  • Excellent communication skills—both in distilling data into insights and in navigating team dynamics.

 

This position can be performed remotely in all but the following locations: Colorado, New York City, San Francisco County, CA.
