Position Summary
Loenbro, LLC is seeking an experienced Electrical Switching Foreman to lead field switching and commissioning support for mission-critical data center projects in the Cedar Rapids, IA area. The Electrical Switching Foreman will supervise electrical crews during First Time Energization, switching and AutoLOTO activities, load bank operations, and Level 3–5 commissioning support while enforcing safety, executing approved procedures, and ensuring clean turnover documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Leadership: Lead electrical crews in field commissioning activities including First Time Energization, switching/LDL for AutoLOTO, minor issue resolution, equipment start-up switching, load bank connection and removal, and general support for Level 3–5 commissioning.
- MOP Execution: Execute approved Methods of Procedure for all Level 3–5 activities and ensure crews follow the exact procedural steps.
- AutoLOTO Review and Execution: Review, validate, and execute AutoLOTO requests for all project electrical systems during Level 3–5 commissioning phases.
- Test and Energization Oversight: Lead the field team through FTE, pre-functional and functional test plans, energization sequences, and integrated systems testing protocols in compliance with approved plans and permits.
- Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to regular progress meetings and commissioning updates to ensure alignment with the project Cx plan.
- Safety and Coordination: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols during all commissioning phases and coordinate with Safety, QA/QC, and Field Operations to identify and mitigate commissioning risks.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and incorporate feedback into updated commissioning standards and field practices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, auditable logs of switching activities, AutoLOTO records, MOP signoffs, and commissioning support notes for turnover and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of electrical field experience on mission-critical or industrial projects with hands-on switching, LOTO, and commissioning support; proven track record with Level 3–5 activities preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of switchgear operation, transfer schemes, LV and MV switching practices, load bank procedures, and commissioning test support.
- Certifications: NFPA 70E and relevant safety certifications preferred; AutoLOTO or switching authority credentials a plus.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or vocational training in electrical technology preferred.
- Communication: Clear, firm communicator with experience directing crews, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and documenting switching activities.

- Attention to Detail: Accurate execution of MOPs and meticulous record keeping for AutoLOTO and switching logs.
- Situational Awareness: Sound judgment during energization and testing; ability to escalate safety or technical issues immediately.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Commissioning teams, Energy Marshalls, Field Operations, Safety, QA/QC, and client representatives.
Work Environment:
- This position may require travel to various project sites.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.

- Outside most of the time
- Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures
- Manufacturing and refining environment
- Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels
- Limited working surfaces
- Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors
- Exposure to areas with limited visibility
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time on a monthly basis for required tasks
- Potential or Periodic amounts of time for the following:
- If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
Essential Requirements:
- Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of 2 miles per day
- Standing
- Sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel
- Use of respirator if position requires
- Driving if required to travel
