Job Summary
The Pipefitter Journeyman is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, and maintaining piping systems used to transport water, steam, chemicals, and other industrial fluids. This role requires expert‑level skill in reading blueprints, laying out pipe systems, and performing precise cutting, threading, welding, and bending of carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials. The Pipefitter Journeyman ensures all systems are safely shut down prior to work, maintains clean and hazard‑free piping routes, and installs pipe segments using proper welding, soldering, or mechanical joining methods. This position supports safe, high‑quality industrial construction and maintenance activities, and may perform other duties as needed to support business operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Configure pipe systems blueprint and plan piping systems layouts.
- Ensure all steam, water, chemicals, or other liquids are turned off before working on the piping system.
- Precisely cut, bend, and weld metals such as carbon and stainless steel.
- Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials from pipes as needed.
- Install piping or tubing segments securely with welding or other equipment.
- Thread, weld, solder piping together.
Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- 4+ years of experience as a Pipefitter or completion of a recognized pipefitter apprenticeship program.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping diagrams.
- Demonstrated skill in cutting, threading, welding, soldering, and bending pipe (carbon steel, stainless steel, etc.).
- Knowledge of industrial fluids (steam, water, chemicals) and proper shutdown/lockout procedures.
- Ability to operate pipe fabrication tools including saws, bevelers, threaders, torches, and welders.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and hazard recognition in industrial environments.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver piping materials and equipment as required.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug/alcohol testing.
Preferred:
- Current welding certifications (SMAW, GTAW, or others depending on project needs).
- Experience in refinery, power plant, manufacturing, or heavy industrial construction.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working with multi‑trade coordination on large‑scale projects.

- Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
- Manufacturing, pipeline, and refining environment.
- Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels.

- Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors.
- Exposure to areas with limited visibility.
