Senior Technical Project Manager

The Role
As a Senior Technical Project Manager you’ll lead software development initiatives from scope to delivery, driving impact through structured planning, proactive risk management and client collaboration. You’ll guide multidisciplinary teams across projects while contributing to division-wide initiatives that elevate our ways of working.
Responsibilities
Project Ownership
Plan timelines, deliverables and work breakdowns for complex projects.
Lead project status meetings and maintain transparent stakeholder communication.
Proactively manage resources and timelines to ensure delivery excellence.
Track performance metrics to identify improvement areas.
Manage budget, schedule and work plan.
Risk & Blocker Management
Identify and mitigate risks early.
Resolve blockers that impact project timelines.
Execution & Methodology
Select and implement project methodologies (Agile, Kanban, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Lead project ceremonies and rituals based on methodology.
Stakeholder & Client Collaboration
Lead 1:1 meetings with main client stakeholders.
Manage client expectations and facilitate alignment across internal/external teams.
Provide timely project updates covering risks, blockers, achievements and progress.
Tools & Delivery
Manage project tools (e.g. JIRA) and maintain Notion project spaces.
Set up and manage communication channels (Slack, Google Spaces).
Review key deliverables and ensure quality.
Coordinate closing tasks (e.g. AWS funding applications, feedback surveys).
Technical Influence
Use technical knowledge to guide project strategies and decisions.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams.
Continuous Improvement & Mentorship
Conduct retrospectives and share learnings across teams.
Provide direct peer feedback.
Support the continuous improvement of PM processes across the division.
Requirements
Must-Haves
5+ years of experience in technical project management in software development
Client-facing project experience in a consultancy or startup environment
Strong grasp of Agile methodologies and project tools (e.g., JIRA, Notion)
Comfortable working remotely in multicultural teams
Additional Requirements

Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Loka, a globally distributed tech consultancy based in Silicon Valley, is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing team. In this position you will serve as the primary specialist in designing and implementing machine learning solutions across multiple projects. Your expertise in ML algorithms and ML, DL and Foundation Models will empower us to develop robust, scalable systems and improve them over time. Ultimately we expect you to not just fit in with our ML crew but to elevate it to new heights.
Our technical teams help clients launch innovations that fix the climate, defeat cancer, improve agricultural efficiencies, teach kids to read and more. We work with all kinds of companies, from Silicon Valley startups to major household brands, always guided by our fundamental belief that mission matters.

The Role
Take full responsibility for assigned tasks and projects, ensuring accountability for outcomes and results.
Understand business objectives and develop models that help achieve them, along with metrics to track progress.
Design and implement complex ML systems using classical machine learning, deep learning and foundation models, adhering to best practices.
Lead client communications by gathering requirements, managing expectations and communicating deliverables effectively.
Wrangle, explore and visualize data with a keen eye for issues requiring data cleaning, as well as differences in data distribution that may affect post-deployment performance.
Analyze model errors and design strategies to overcome them.
Deploy, maintain and upgrade ML models and pipelines.
Follow Loka’s career track for growth by demonstrating technical excellence, innovation, autonomy, ownership, communication and teamwork.
Drive architectural decisions and contribute to high-level planning and strategy.
Direct report to ML leads.
Stay updated with industry trends to incorporate cutting-edge techniques and tools into projects.
Write and maintain technical documentation.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior ML engineers within the team.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams (Data Engineering, DevOps, Backend) to ensure seamless integration of ML solutions.
Continuously optimize models for performance, scalability and cost-effectiveness, especially within the AWS environment.
Required Hard Skills
4+ years of ML engineering experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related
Experience with Python, ML libraries and AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, HuggingFace, TensorFlow, etc.)
Experience building GenAI solutions using LLMs, including frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex, prompt engineering, fine-tuning and serving models, and implementing common patterns like RAG and NLQ
Client-facing experience
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools

Senior Learning & Development Specialist
In the last year at Loka, our teams have helped clients advance the world’s #1 AI reading tutor, eliminate $1B in food waste and develop novel drugs for fighting cancer. As a Senior Learning & Development Specialist, you will drive impactful learning initiatives that support Loka’s managers and employees in their career development and progression. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, deliver and continuously improve training programs that align with our business goals. Your focus will be on creating high-quality, data-driven learning experiences that not only engage but also demonstrate measurable improvements in skills, performance and career growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver engaging and interactive learning programs, workshops and e-learning modules focused on core competencies, technical skills, management and leadership development tailored for our remote, tech-driven environment.
Collaborate with HX teams and leadership to align learning programs with career frameworks and progression paths, ensuring employees have a clear development roadmap.
Establish and monitor key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of learning initiatives, using methods such as pre- and post-training assessments, surveys and performance tracking.
Regularly assess organizational learning needs and collaborate with managers and employees to determine training priorities, then tailor programs accordingly.
Implement and manage learning management systems (LMS) and other digital learning tools to provide seamless access to training content, track progress and analyze engagement.
Develop and curate a library of internal resources and source relevant external training materials to support ongoing skill-building, role transitions and leadership growth.
Manage core HR processes like performance review cycles, employee goal setting process and reporting on these topics.
Qualifications
Four-plus years experience in Learning & Development or similar HR roles, preferably in a tech or remote-first company. Experience in manager and leadership development is a plus.
Expertise in instructional design, e-learning and adult learning principles. Experience with LMS platforms and digital training tools are a plus.
Strong focus on data and metrics, with the ability to design and track measurable learning outcomes and communicate the impact to stakeholders
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to collaborate across teams, support managers in development planning, and engage employees at all levels.
Ability to adjust learning strategies to accommodate diverse remote teams across different regions and cultures
