The Director of Business Operations, Real Estate will serve as a strategic and execution-oriented leader, responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling operational infrastructure across the investment lifecycle—from acquisition and transaction management through asset management and dispositions. This individual will lead cross-functional initiatives, streamline workflows, leverage technology, and instill operational discipline across departments to support rapid growth and portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute operational strategies to support growth across acquisitions, transaction management, asset management, and dispositions.
- Partner with department leads to translate company objectives into actionable operating plans and KPIs.
- Serve as the internal "glue" connecting cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, efficiency, and accountability.
- Audit and map existing workflows across departments to identify gaps, bottlenecks, and redundancies.
- Design and implement scalable SOPs and process automations that reduce friction, improve data integrity, and enhance team efficiency.
- Establish frameworks for consistent, repeatable, and compliant execution across markets.
- Evaluate and implement tech solutions and platforms to support data tracking, reporting, and execution (e.g., Salesforce/CRM, project management tools, property/asset management platforms).
- Collaborate with the product team to improve operational systems and data flow across the organization.
- Define, monitor, and report on operational KPIs across the investment lifecycle (e.g., acquisition throughput, transaction timelines, NOI trends, asset disposition metrics).
- Develop Salesforce dashboards and scorecards for leadership to make data-informed decisions.
- Lead critical company initiatives and process rollouts from planning to execution.
- Coordinate across internal teams and external partners (legal, brokers, lenders, vendors) to meet project deadlines and milestones.
- Champion a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and accountability.
- Mentor and develop team members to build internal operational capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 8–12+ years of experience in operations or business management, with demonstrated experience in real estate investment, PropTech, private equity, or SFR environments.
- Proven track record of designing and scaling operational systems within high-growth companies.
- Deep understanding of the real estate investment lifecycle, including acquisitions, underwriting, closing, portfolio operations, and dispositions.
- Exceptional process orientation with a passion for efficiency, automation, and systems thinking.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, from finance to legal to field operations.
- Tech-forward mindset; familiarity with tools such as Salesforce, AppFolio, Monday.com, Notion, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
