Position Summary
The Senior Director of Finance will play a critical role in shaping and executing the financial strategy for the Syracuse, NY manufacturing bio campus. This position will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects, including financial planning, business analysis, and reporting, while aligning financial strategies with the company’s broader objectives. Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Director will partner closely with executive leadership to drive sustainable growth and profitability, influencing major business decisions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of long-term financial strategies to support the bio campus’ overall business goals.
- Influence and shape financial direction for key strategic initiatives, driving profitability and sustainability.
- Lead financial transformation initiatives, including automation, process improvements, and system integrations to streamline financial operations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between finance and the broader leadership team, offering insights to guide executive-level decisions and optimize operational efficiencies.
- Oversee global financial initiatives or with future potential for oversite of multiple sites.
- Manage complex capital budgeting and investment evaluation processes, ensuring optimal use of resources and alignment with long-term growth objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams, working directly with senior leadership in operations, supply chain, HR, and corporate functions to ensure the financial strategy aligns with all business units.
- Maintain a high level of financial governance, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory standards, industry best practices, and corporate policies at a global scale.
- Conduct Financial due diligence for potential mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic corporate initiatives.
- Establish and oversee financial KPIs and deliver regular executive-level reporting, offering strategic insights and financial forecasts to the senior leadership team.
- Mentor and develop the finance team, creating a high-performance culture that fosters leadership development and succession planning.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in finance, accounting, cost management, taxation, and cash flow management.
- At least 8 years of experience in senior-level financial roles, with a proven track record in leadership and financial strategy development.
- 5+ years of experience leading finance teams, with a focus on developing and mentoring leaders.
- Experience leading financial operations for multi-site or global organizations in manufacturing or related industries (e.g., biopharma, CDMO, or GMP manufacturing).
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

- Strong business acumen with the ability to drive company-wide financial strategies, navigate complex challenges, and influence key decisions at the senior executive level.
- Expertise in leading cross-functional collaborations and aligning financial priorities with long-term strategic goals.
- Proven ability to manage transformational change and drive innovation in financial processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Financial Expertise & Global Oversight:
- Advanced knowledge of capital management, investment strategies, and financial structuring.
- Comprehensive understanding of global taxation, treasury, and compliance frameworks, with the ability to influence strategic direction across geographies.
- Deep proficiency in financial modeling, risk management, and capital expenditure planning.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Proven track record of leading and developing senior-level finance teams, fostering leadership, and creating a high-performance culture.
- Ability to build and maintain a strong finance organization capable of executing on short and long-term financial goals.
- Expertise in succession planning, mentorship, and developing future financial leaders within the organization.
- Ability to work with global colleagues, across time zones as needed.
Communication & Influence:
- Exceptional communication skills to interact with and influence C-suite executives, board members, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to present complex financial information in a clear and compelling way, tailored to various audiences, including senior management and non-financial stakeholders.
- Global mindset, with the ability to navigate diverse business cultures and lead financial strategies across regions.

Work Environment
- Office-based role in a manufacturing facility setting.
- Exposure to a professional, fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with internal teams and stakeholders.

- Occasional visits to manufacturing areas requiring adherence to safety protocols and GMP procedures.
- Work primarily conducted in a climate-controlled environment, but occasional exposure to manufacturing spaces or warehouse areas may occur.
- Standard business hours, with occasional need for extended hours to meet deadlines, month-end closings, or special projects.
- Minimal travel required (less than 10%), primarily for corporate meetings, training, or site visits.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly oversees the finance team.
- Responsible for mentoring, coaching, and developing finance staff to enhance team performance and capabilities.
Travel
Less than 10%. Some travel, including international, may be required.

$195,000 - $246,000 USD
