Triage Nurse/Medical Assistant - Denham Springs, LA
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse to join our team as a Triage Nurse. In this role, you will provide essential support to healthcare providers by efficiently assessing patient needs, determining the appropriate course of action, and ensuring clear communication between providers and patients. Your expertise will contribute to the delivery of high-quality care and the overall patient experience.

Essential Functions:
To perform effectively in this role, the candidate must fulfill the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Triage Management: Open and close the triage queue according to established protocols.
- Patient Communication: Answer and respond to incoming phone calls, reviewing refill requests, and addressing patient inquiries.
- Patient Assessment: Collect and document patient information, including symptoms and medical conditions, to determine the urgency and type of care required.
- Provider Liaison: Communicate patient needs and conditions to providers and relay their instructions back to patients.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient interactions, including advice provided and patient responses, in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Medication Management: Refill prescriptions following provider-specific protocols and ensure proper documentation in the EMR.
- Patient Portal Management: Monitor and respond to messages received through the patient portal.
- Prescription Authorization: Assist with prescription prior authorizations as needed.
- Appointment Scheduling: Schedule appointments within the practice and with outside providers as directed by healthcare providers.
- Test Results Communication: Relay lab and pathology results to patients promptly.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with other staff and providers to address patient issues effectively.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Active LPN license or Certified Medical Assistant
- Current CPR certification.
- LPN certification required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records and other office equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
