About the role
Loyal is approaching the projected launch of our first product. We’re seeking a Biostatistician to work closely with our statisticians, scientists and regulatory personnel to design and analyze studies for regulatory submissions and publications.
Your work will be an instrumental part of the drug approval process. Your work designing, analyzing, and reporting on our preclinical and clinical trials will be used to support FDA submissions for drug approval, and commercialization.
This role is for someone who has a masters in statistics or a related field. The ideal candidate should be comfortable analyzing and presenting results from both clinical trial and observational studies, performing sample size and power calculations, and manuscript writing.
You will be reporting to our Senior Statistician - Jess Graves.
Your daily work will include:
- Working closely with senior statisticians, biologists, and clinicians to perform statistical analyses for preclinical and clinical investigations
- Supporting experimental design using simulation- and equation-based power and sample size analyses
- Applying a variety of statistical analysis techniques to our studies, including survival analysis, longitudinal/mixed effects modeling
- Contributing to documentation that is sent to regulatory agencies, including study protocols, field study reports, statistical analysis plans and data package documentation
- Collaborating with data engineers and clinical research teams to advise on data collection and database infrastructure
- Sharing scientific results for internal meetings/presentations, manuscripts, or poster sessions and conference presentations
- Assisting in endpoint and/or assay development through exploratory data analysis and modeling
About you:
- MS in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry (or medical research)
- Experience designing, powering, and analyzing preclinical and clinical studies
- Comfort with the following statistical techniques: generalized linear models, longitudinal data analysis (mixed effects models), survival analysis, simulation and formula based power analyses
- Proficiency in R (or python) and version control (git) experience
- Experience with reproducible report writing (e.g., quarto, RMarkdown, or Jupyter notebooks)
- Experience writing for regulatory submissions as well as for academic publications
- Able to communicate/interpret complex statistical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences
- Understanding of basic concepts of aging biology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in dynamic, cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with Google Workspace applications (e.g., Sheets, Slides, etc.)

Salary range: $105K - $120K
